Lovely hotel
I just wanted to say how lovely the hotel was the best i've stayed in. Whilst we were there we used the spa which to my mind was very small. Apart from that the gardens were lovely. Well worth the money spent.
Great But Not Central
My wife and I stayed in the Bath Priory for a single night because we were attracted by it's position in the centre of Bath and it's restuarant. Sadly, the hotel is not very central at all. It lies in a suburb of Bath and is probably an hour's walk from the centre. It's setting is also not as rural as we were expecting, it's is in the middle of a built up area - this is probably due to our misconceptions rather than any misleading advertising however. Despite these factors, both the hotel and the restaurant are of an excellent standard.... more
perfect for a special weekend in Bath
We booked this place because we had eaten in the restaurant before and the hotel looked so gorgeous we were looking forward to going back to Bath just to stay there. We were no disapointed : the restaurant is still amazing, just like last time (high quality, really creative, and beautifully presented food) and the hotel was perfect. We chose a lazy sunday package, it comes with a short massage which was very good so I can imagine the spa treatments are good too. The garden and terrace are truly beautiful and make this place... more
excellent can't be faulted
I had previously stayed at this hotel with my son last February and on that occaission thought it was excellent. We were looking for a hotel to end our summer holiday and thought this would be a good place to bring the whole family. We booked a suite to accommodate the whole family. Every one of the family agreed that it was the best night of the holiday. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left it was an extremely enjoyable experience. The staff were all, without exception helpful and friendly. The Manager who was on duty... more
How very sad!!!
The Bath Priory used to be one of those hotels where you return for a special few days. A hotel where the team is charming and the food memorable.. Sorry to say it has now become a parody of its former self; an estblishment where the staff believe that they are " very special" and the guests simply "bit players" in their production. From offering the Best of British, the food is now pretentious and over-priced served by a team who frankly ignore the basics . The service is to say the least "haphazard" and indifferent!!!<br... more
Management response from Suewilliams

Comments such as these hit us hard; they are also frustrating as there is no opportunity to discuss how and where we got it so wrong on this occassion. We hold our hands up when we do get it wrong, but as a team we do care tremendously to get it right, arrogant is one sentiment that has never been levied at us before and in my heart I know it is not true. What I would like to say to all potential guests that take the time to read this response is, if there is any element of your visit that is not meeting your expectations, please do mention this to either myself or my Resident Manager whilst you are with us in order that we might put things right there and then.

Comparable to Le Manoir
We chose the Priory for a luxury weekend to celebrate my husband's 50th in March without our young kids. It was a wonderful experience from the beginning. The room (Magnolia) is a premier deluxe and had recently been refurbished with a view of the lovely garden. The food was excellent. The service was friendly and not at all "snobbish". Before dinner, our hostess was happy to talk about the history of the house and the artwork. I have also stayed at Le Manoir aux Quat'saison a couple times and, though that hotel is in a league of it's own,... more
In the old country style without being thread bare
We have just returned from a one night stay at the Bath Priory. On arrival we were greeted by warm and friendly staff and within moments we were checked in and shown to our suite. The hotel is definetely in the old country style without being thread bare. The suite was beautifully appointed and immaculate. Although we did not have dinner at the hotel due to a prior engagement the service at breakfast and lunch was impeccable, timely and natural. After a very poor meal in an Italian resturant in the city we returned to... more
Excellent week-end retreat
My wife and I regularly stay for 3+/- nights (4 times a year) at the Bath Priory. I do a lot of air-travel on business and do not relish a holiday that requires passing through an airport! We love the friendly welcoming service at the Bath Priory, and always ask for the same room overlooking the garden. The staff are always very helpful without being overly attentive, and we enjoy spending much time in the garden (even in the winter). We enjoy both the indoor and oudoor pools (and can't wait for the open-air pool to open) as well... more
Loved this hotel!
We stayed here for 2 nights just after our wedding and were extremely happy with everything. We had a premier deluxe room (Carnation) and we thought it was perfect. It overlooked the beautiful gardens and we lucky enough to have glorious weather throughout our stay. The reception staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful, they were a real credit to the hotel. We ate in the restaurant 1 evening and had a very nice meal, although the wine choices made by the sommelier were slightly pricey. Bath is about a 15 minute... more
Every weekend would be nice
Stayed one night for a de-stress trip and obviously a trip around Bath. I booked directly and dealt with Rebecca who was great on helping me to pick a room. We got there and there is plenty of parking so those of you with nice cars need not worry about the Valet parking mentioned by all the reviews on Bath hotels - I was! Sad but true - It is always better to be sure rather than come back with dents and scrapes. Bath is a 10 - 15 minute walk but ask for a map as you leave as it can take longer if you don't know where you are going. The... more
