A VERY VERY Nice Hotel
I have just returned from 2 nights at the Royal Crescent Hotel with my girlfriend as a special valentines treat. The hotel is what you expect a 5 star hotel to be. The hotel is obviously 18th century so its not modern, but what you will get is a wonderful historic setting with the most tentative and professional staff you will ever find in a hotel. We stayed in a Deluxe suite called the 'Royal Crescent Suite' (Room 19) which was located on the second floor overlooking the crescent parkland and had wonderful views of Bath.... more
Probably my favorite hotel ever
My husband and I stayed here and were sad to leave. Sheboo's comments were dead-on -- our room was beautiful, the staff was attentive, and the gardens are gorgeous! We liked the little signs on the doors that had your last name -- it was a nice touch, as were the slippers by our bed. We were visiting England for about 2 weeks (first time for me) and we'd been staying at friends' houses and regular hotels and inns -- they were all adequate, fine, but nothing really noteworthy..... until the Royal Crescent! We were having such a... more
A fabulous stay
We have just returned home from a two night stay at this hotel ... and it was fab! We were offered a reduction in price of over £100 per night for what turned out to be a superb city break. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the city centre. The welcome we received was wonderful - the staff are so helpful, particularly the concierge. The room was a delight and the bed definitely the most comfortable we have ever slept in at a hotel. The spa is so restful, we were often the only people using it, and we went at... more
For History and Literature Lovers
If you're a fan of Jane Austen or Colin Dexter, as I am, you just have to stay at this hotel. But if you're not a history or literature lover, is it worth shelling out the big bucks to stay here? On the "yes" side, apart from the beautiful location, the biggest plus is the service, which was warm and extremely helpful. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast (included in our room rate) in the beautiful dining room. If only I could be so positive about our room. It was large, with a separate sitting area that looked out over the... more
The BEST hotel EVER
I can honestly say that this was the most pleasant hotel experience I have ever had. Not only is the hotel absolutely gorgeous as are their gardens and spa, the staff was above and beyond the most professional and accommodating I have ever met. We stayed at the hotel for a week with our then 1 1/2 year-old daughter. We had a beautiful suite with by far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Our room overlooked the gardens and was very quiet (no street noise at all). The staff played with and coddled our daughter every chance... more
Home from Home
After having read the reviews about the hotel on this site I decided to give them in a call before I booked. I said that I would love to come and stay and I had concerns about the room that I might be put in, based on reviews from tripadvisor. They were aware of the reviews and she allocated me a specific room over the phone. We arrived and everyone was incredibly friendly. There had obviously been a mix up and we were shown to a different room in the converted stables I believe. I pointed out that we had been promised a different room... more
Still luxurious & elegant
I just stayed here again after an absence of three years and it is still a superb hotel. I've been fortunate enough to stay in many of the better hotels across Europe and the Middle East with work and this undoubtedly remains in my top three. The buildings are all period Georgian in the magnificent setting of the Royal Cresent. Infact the hotel also takes in several other buildings at the rear so is deceptively large. All the rooms are individual, are usually actually two or three rooms and all are marvellously furnished with... more
Could have been 5 star
This hotel is THE place to stay in Bath. The Royal Crescent is where the nobility would reside during their month or two stay in Bath to take the waters and to be seen by the public during the 18th century.. The hotel maintains something of that air and is justifiably expensive. The staff are eager to please, but they are young, inexperienced and uninformed, and that is what keeps the hotel below expectation given the price.
Great Hotel, Great Food, Great Location
The royal crescent really is the best of the best in bath, the glorious setting for our weekend away. The food really is first class, and the restaurant is intimate with a fantasitic wine list. Our suite was elegently furnished with all the amenities you would expect of any five star hotel and more!! a truley English hotel, in a very historical city. I would highly reccomend this hotel, and hope to return very soon.
Waste of Money
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights as a treat a few years ago and the whole experience left me cold . I could go into minute details but at the end of the day there was no hot water, breakfast in the room was served in installments 30 mins apart meaning that the cumulative meal was cold, depsite having booked treatments in advance, the Spa was closed without warning etc. Ultimately what was really disappointing was the reaction of the assistant manager and the subsequent response to my letter of complaint. I complained when it... more
