Hotel Konaki, Ligia is a gem of a hotel in an excellent location on the beautiful island of Lefkas ( Lefkada ). Excellent rooms, especially in new blocks, and rest of hotel due to be upgraded to 4 star hotel for 2007 season. Comfortable beds, large bathroom by Greek standards (spacious shower, decent loo, large basin, but no shaver point).
Shutters, patio doors and fully netted sliding screens (but bring insect repellent and after-bite remedies as Lefkas does have mosquitoes). Good sized balcony or patio with furniture and light. Cable TV and direct dial telephone, remote control A/C unit and 3-speed ceiling fan. Kitchenette in self-catering room was small but functional, 1 large ring and 1 small ring plus electric kettle. Really beautiful gardens, lovely pool with kids' area, pool bar with small menu, fitness room, showers, etc. Friendly welcome at hotel and nice ambience, all very relaxed.
Excellent location - bus stop directly outside hotel to Lefkas Town, Nidri and Vassiliki. 3 mins to nearest taverna, and 15 min walk to larger selection of harbour side tavernas with good food. Recommend Seven Islands Taverna, Taverna Makis and Taverna Green Stop. 1 min to nearest supermarket, others on the way to Ligia, public card phone kiosk near bus stop. Shell garage just down the road (with post box), ample car parking at the hotel. Quiet resort, quiet area, night life based around bars and tavernas, although Nidri looked livelier. A relaxing place to recharge your batteries; definitely recommended!
Booked through Sunvil, who use Air Astraeus to Preveza airport. Star Class was worth the upgrade. Preveza airport has air con, good amount of seating, good duty-free shop and cafe/bar selling drinks (including alcohol) and snacks. Approx 45 min transfer to Hotel Konaki.
