Travelodge Taunton Hotel

The first room I was allocated was above the reception area - outside which smokers congregate. The window was open so the room was full of cigarette smoke that had drifted up. The lights in the main room did not work and there was no sheets on the bed or pillow cases on the wafer thin pillows. I asked reception to allocate me another room. This was downstairs. I noticed while walking through the corridors that some doors were damaged. The stairwell and carpets were the dirtiest I've ever seen in a hotel anywhere. The second room was only slightly better, at least the bed had a sheet on it but it was so thin you could see the matress underneath and I didn't want to look at that too closely as there were stains on it. I had to double up the duvet and sleep between that instead to save me from the perils of the matress! The TV was stuck on BBC1 and you couldn't change the channels or the volume on the remote or the TV. The bathroom smelt disgusting, the water did not drain properly down the sink and the shower curtain was stained. I didn't want to look at it too closely!! I was very grateful I only stayed one night and I will never return.

Excellent stay agree with all said by previous reviewer. Good value with plenty of room, clean rooms nicely appointed.
Also quiet superb spot for getting around the area. Staff pleasant and helpful at a very busy time of year the standard was very high.
