Spent 3 days here with my wife in June using the hotel as a base for visiting Portsmouth and environs and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The hotel is located to the North of Portsmouth (10-15 minutes drive traffic permitting) and is close to the motorway. The area is... more

Great Stay
We are a family of 4 2 adults 2 children aged 9 & 11.We had a great one night stay at this hotel. Next door to a Tesco Supermarket and KFC.We stayed on a Friday night and did'nt experience any problems with noise. The hotel its self was very new looking and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It all looked very clean and smelt really fresh. Check -In was very quick. Our room was on the first floor. The room was really nice quite big for a family room.In family rooms that weve stayed in before weve had 2 Double beds, this one had 1 double and 2 singles, one of the single beds was a put up bed but it was the same height and size of the other single bed. The room was lovely really nice lay out and the decor again was really nice,it also smelt new. The shower was fantastic a great power shower that you could turn the dial for what temperature you wanted, ideal for children, you know there not going to burn them selves. It was a large shower with a seat on one side. The toilet was also in the shower room. The sink was in your room with a large mirror. We also had breakfast the next morning, that was buffet style, loads to choose from,we didnt have to pay for the childrens breakfast, just the adults for £7.95 each.Breakfast was lovely and hot and staff were on hand if you needed any help.We had a great stay at this hotel and would stay again if we were in the area.
New and Modern
A new(er) hotel that provided everything we looked for in a transition hotel between our two main stops. Located just off the Motorway, no where near the port (a $20 taxi ride to the historic ports and other tourist spots). Bus stop just 3 minute walk (right near a huge Tesco). No surprises, large clean rooms, comfortable beds, great shower pressure, nice lobby, friendly staff (who assisted with other reservations and dinner recommendations). Easy walk to many of good restaurants and pubs (at Port Solent Marina). Just note, you are not near any main tourist sites, they don't stock any flannels (washcloths) and breakfast was $16 ($5 at Tesco Cafe).
it does what it says on the tin
great hotel for the price clean tidy and very helpful staff, 100% better than the marriot next door.
Its fine
I stay in this Hotel every few months for a couple of nights. It is what it is for the rate. Clean, comfortable some road noise but not bad. Restaurant very reasonable. Staff helpful. If you want cheaper go next door to the Travel Lodge or if you want higher priced hype, next door to that, the ex Holiday Inn now the Hilton(?) All 3 budget ranges in a row
Great Staff & Room!!
We spent one night in this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Vicki, the Manager was especially charming and helfpul. The room was clean, modern and quiet enough considering our room overlooked a big intersection. The air-conditioning was a lovely thing to have considering it was the first hot weekend of the year. We agree it was great value for money. Though we did chose to eat breakfast at Tesco across the street since it was a bit pricey at the hotel.
Lovely hotel with friendly & helpful staff
I've just returned from a weekend in portsmouth with my boyfriend. We were both very impressed with the tulip inn,as it was so inexpensive we were expecting it to be very basic. On the conterary the room was superb- large, very clean, lovely decor, tv with satellite channels, fabulous shower, and all the things you might need including an iron and board! The staff were very friendly and more than helpful to us when we needed taxis, information and even toothpaste! We would defintely stay there again.
Very Nice Hotel and Friendly.
We stayed at this Hotel and it was really comfortable Nice and Friendly. The Front Desk and the Manager were very friendly too. And the rooms were nice and comfy. My only Moan was the room honestly needed some New carpet as it was often stained badly in places which let down the room a little bit. But the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nicely cleaned too. The Restaurant is good and has keen prices. We had a lovely tasty dinner there and the Restuarant Staff was truly super. I would stay here again when next visiting Portsmouth as the Hotel is great Value for money.
Nice looking hotel but very noisy
I stayed here on a Sunday because the Hilton was full. I must say the hotel is very nice looking and everything is very clean and modern. They have done a nice job. The biggest plus is free broadband access from every room. However the noise from the road is deafening. I even got moved to the back of the hotel where the noise is just as bad. The walls are made of paper and there are a lot of noises very early in the morning. The food is pretty bland (everything comes with chips). So I guess a great hotel if you don't have problems sleeping. I do however and will not be staying here again.
Great new hotel
We stayed at the Tulip Inn Portsmouth. It's a brand new hotel and we were very pleased with the service and the quality of the bedrooms. The design of the hotel is modern and stylish and the rooms were really spacious. Our room even had two large double beds which were the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in so that was a nice surprise! The best thing is that it's not expensive, we paid about £59 per night and would highly recommend staying here if you need to visit the Portsmouth area - much better value for money than a travel inn or travel lodge. All in all - the hotel was great, the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was fantastic and we will defineately be staying again.
A nice and clean, great value hotel
We stayed here the night before an early morning ferry. The hotel is new and modern and hence impressively nice. The rooms were big and stylish, as was the lobby. The hotel is next to a big Tesco's for any early morning shopping and about a 15 minute drive to the ferries. We would definitely stay here again. Make sure your arm muscles are up up to pushing open the heavy door to the room as it requires quite a shove!
