Great Friendly Hotel
from TheMcs
Stayed here last week for just one night on business. Was a great find for a "non chain" hotel. From the moment at check-in the girls were friendly and the bar staff were friendly, informative and funny later in the evening, it's nice if staff are empowered to give a human touch...... The rooms we had (2) were spotless and well kitted out, even found a free Wi-fi connection which is always welcome. Nothing special but perfect for business. Walked into Havant (20mins away) for dinner at a great Indian and a few beers at a Weatherspoons. We would stay here again if I'm working in the area.....which is more than I can say for many of the hotels I stay in each year.
Good, quiet location but needs some updating
from histman
Previously a chain hotel owned by Posthouse Forte (Posthouse Havant). Now owned by a small company, Paten Hotels. Architecturally bland, 1970s style hotel without a lift (at least we couldn't find one). Not a bad hotel. Not sure that I would rate it as 4 star. I would equate it with the nearby 3* Holiday Inn at Portsmouth Southsea. Location is pleasant and quiet - at the north of Hayling Island. However few hotel rooms will see anything picturesque. Our view was of a rather dispiriting internal courtyard area. Rooms are pleasant but not particularly spacious. Bathroom was clean though had dated fixtures. Breakfast was pretty good though the selection wasn't brilliant. The staff were however very good especially the managers who knew their job. Reception was very efficient and friendly. Pros: Quiet location. Close to Portsmouth and Chichester. Reasonable sized rooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff. Cons: Decor - dated furniture, carpet designs and fixtures. Limited radio and TV channels. Hayling Island is not very interesting with bungaloid development at the south end. The Portsmouth end of the island is worth a trip, however. Portsmouth-Southsea has a more accessible selection of restaurants and bars. Most rooms have limited views. Need to consider: We didn't have time to use the Leisure Centre which seems to be highly rated. Overall: Might use again. Not bowled over.
Great Hotel
from fairytraveller
I stayed here with my boyfriend using a Great British Getaway voucher which meant our accomodation was free if we spent more than £50 in the restaurant. The hotel was very nice although the location is quite strange as it is situated very close to the bridge across to the island and isolated from the main attractions which meant a drive if we wanted to go out. We were very pleased with the quality of service and our room was immaculate and quite spacious, we chose to have breakfast in our room as there was a large function on the weekend we stayed and there was easily enough room for a full spread of cereal, toast, full english and drinks. The only dissapointment was the restaurant. There was a reasonable sized menu, but not much simple food. It would have been alright for people with more exotic tastes, e.g Pigeon, Vension, Hare and Monkfish, but we struggled to find a simple chicken dish. The food was quite expensive and there wasnt very much of it. Overall it was a lovely stay but I dont think we would do it again if we had to pay the full price.
Perfect for Buisiness and Pleasure
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have been staying at this hotel regularly for the last 6 months, as work has taken me away from home and into the Portsmouth area. I come back every week as this is easily the best hotel in the area, and I have stayed in many of them. Every room is identical and spotless, all with the red and black decor that runs throughout the hotel. It may not be to everyones taste, but it is comfortable and welcoming. The staff and all polite, friendly, welcoming and accomodating. The restaurtant has a menu that changes daily, and currently at £22.50 for three courses, I think is good value, as the food is all delicious. There is a good size swimming pool and gym, which are free to hotel guests. The best thing to recommend this hotel is that it is nearly always fully booked in the week, - you have to have resevered a couple of weeks in advance to guarantee a room. However, a large new extension is about to open, which hopefully will just allow easier booking, and will not overwhelm the facilites. Thoroughly recommended to all - this hotel would be suited to those travelling for either buisness or pleasure.
A few oversights let this hotel down
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed in this hotel for one night with my husband. Our overall impression of the hotel was average, but it was let down by a few small points that cumulatively are very disappointing. We had booked a non-smoking room and found on our arrival that not only had we been allocated a smoking room (not the end of the world) but it had an ashtray in it, replete with dog-ends. Not a good start. When we came to have a shower, we found that the shower head could not attach to the wall and the shower gel that we had been given had a mere dribble in the bottom of it. How much does it cost to equip a hotel room with sufficient shower gel? The corridor had a very distinct odour of vomit along it and this had not diminished by the time we came to leave the hotel. Finally, we were going to dine in the hotel during the evening but there was only one vegetarian option on the menu, which I disliked. We ate instead at the Ship Inn, just across the bridge and I couldn't recommend it heartily enough. All in all, a reasonable stay with the potential to be very good if the small details are attended to.
superb weekend at the Langstone in Hayling Island
from paulabrady
My husband and I stayed for three nights in October 2005 for one of the hotels last Murder Mystery events. It was very good fun, great actors and a good crowd who really joined in and made it such fun. It's a shame they are not doing the Murder Mystery's anymore, something to do with not enough people making bookings. Apparently, their sister hotel (the Grosvenor) in Stratford upon Avon still does them, so will try that out soon. I would recommend a stay at this hotel, its staff (especially Keith, the barman who loves making coffee!) are friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. There is a nice pool with steam & sauna rooms and a hi tech gym. The view over Langstone Harbour is lovely. Rooms aren't huge but are nicely decorated (wardrobes contain iron/board and trouser press, fridge, kettle and safe), all the handles/rails etc are in chrome which makes it look modern, plenty of plug points (for laptops, phone chargers etc), tv, good air con/heating. Very impressed. Lots to do nearby too. Would go back.
Great value

I have stayed at the Langstone Hotel on 3 separate occasions, and on each occasion i have vowed to return. It is situated on an estuary at the Northern tip of Hayling Island away from the hustle and bustle of Pomrtsmouth and Havant. It is themed inside as a cruise ship.the rooms are very comfortable and have air conditioning. The restaurant has a nautical theme but also has art deco touches.the staff are most helpful and the menu is always interesting. At around £19 for a 3 course meal it is very good value for money.there is an adjoining fitness centre with a pool, sauna and gym.It is a n ideal place for a relaxing few days.
it was amazing, the food was out of this world
from A TripAdvisor Member
it was amazing, the staff were very polite, well presented & made both me & my husband very welcomed. we knew before we went that it accomodated alot of conference & banqueting which we wernt entirely keen on but it wasnt as noticable as we thought. the food was out of this world & nearly wherever we were in the hotel we could order food of any kind, wether it bar food or more up market in the restaurant. the leisure facilites were well worth it & all the staff were very keen to talk to us. the rooms although in my opinon arent very co-ordinated were spacious & very clean with a gorgeous view of the harbour. i would strongly reccommend anyone to go & stay their as it is an experience well worth the wait.
Rude Reception/ Smelly hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel was ok. Staff were rude at reception but nice elsewhere in the hotel. Mostly elderly people visiting this hotel. Expensive to eat and drink in the hotel. Rooms were clean but smelt a little as there was no air. Rooms tend to look onto one of the many parking lots.
Nice place - good value
from A TripAdvisor Member
This is a nice hotel. We picked it up for £59 per night and we thought it good value. The whole hotel appears to have been renovated in recent months and altho the decor is a little jazzy, it is clean and bright and consistent thro'out. Sited by the harbour it starts well and has pleasant public areas and a great health club. Portsmouth is about 10 mins by car, and the hotel has plenty of parking. Didnt eat here, but the restaurant looked as new as the rest of the place. Have stayed in plenty of the local hotels and would rate this one as amongst the best - and if the price is right, the one we would return to.

I used to live near Havant but had never been to this Hotel before. The outlook is stunning with great views over Langstone Harbour. Many of the bedrooms are on that side and there is something soothing about opening your curtains in the morning and seeing water. The Hotel... more
