Not impressed
from LuluJai
I was allocated a room a long and winding walk from the reception. I should have realised as the carpets changed colour/pattern and the corridors got thinner I was not heading to the best part of the hotel! The room was awful, a double bed pushed against the wall, mini portable TV on a table and then the window, which didn't seem to close properly. There was a chair infront of the bathroom door which you fell over to get into the bathroom. The door couldn't fully open as the towel rail was behind it, as the sink was infront of the door you had to stand at an angle to the sink! The carpet looked dirty so I kept my socks on, in fact I slept in them and sweatshirt as it was SO cold. There was a strange tapping noise all through the night so I had disrupted sleep in what wasn't the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, could have done with a new matress! If the price reflected the quality fair enough, I was gutted to be paying £100 for staying here! The level of service on the front desk was brisk in manner and slow in doing things. I had to wait a while to check out as there was some fuss about taxis. As I walked out I overheard someone arrivng to run a training programme that the front desk knew nothing about - now why was that not surprising!
Noisy
from BedsTraveller
Stayed at the Lismoyne a second time. There was a very noisy party and the music didn't stop till very late. They'd put my colleague directly over the venue. Not really what you'd expect at a hotel mid-week.
Need some sleep!

Stayed here with work as couldn't get in anywhere else. Can see why they have vacencies! Room was okay but apparently I was in one of the new ones. Everyone else in our party requested alternative rooms from those originally allocated. Location was great, with nice garden but only a couple of two seater benches between everybody. We were told at midnight that the bar was closed. Was awoken at 06:00 by the room above showering and felt like I could hear the cleansing of every crevice. Didn't bother with breakfast due to other reviews, but ten minutes to check out as receptionist couldn't work computer. Suprisingly, they didn't ask if I enjoyed my stay. Won't be staying here again.
Charming Old Hotel
from Froodle
I stayed at the Lismoyne on the recommendation of a work colleague. I had booked a single room and, knowing it was an old building, expected to be in a small room shoved into a corner somewhere. I was pleasantly surprised to get a reasonable sized comfortable room with a massive bed and a bathroom that looked brand new. I had trouble with my room key but this was resolved quickly and apologetically. The staff were, without excpetion, polite and helpful and the public areas were welcoming and comfortable. The hotel is walking distance from Fleet High Street and there were several bars & restaurants along the road. My only criticism of the Lismoyne is that the breakfast wasn't great. As other people have mentioned, it was sitting in big covered serving trays and, although it was busy, I didn't notice it being replenished at any point in the half hour I was there. It was luke warm but not the worst I have had! All in all I thought it was charming and quite quaint but I probably wouldn't bother with breakfast next time.
Shoddy
from Richintime
We have stayed at the Lismoyne several times over the last 18 months during which time it has steadily deteriorated and is now in need of some changes. It promises 'Every comfort you would expect to find, together with finishing touches put together with the thought and care you would expect from a private host.' Just easy words. OK. The Lismoyne isn't the absolute worst place you will stay in and you probably won't get food poisoning, but don't expect much more. During our most recent stay (early December), we had no heating in the room and it was cold. The room had towels, shampoo etc for one person and the breakfast had been steaming away, pre-cooked, in food steamers until you could re-sole your shoes with some of it. On a previous occasion, during the night, we couldn't use the tap in the en-suite facilities to get a drink of water, because the door wouldn't open. It transpires that it had a long standing 'dodgy' door catch. In the morning the receptionist was able to open it with a sharp implement and explained, "Yes, it does that". The service is patchy. Forgotten orders for food. The bar staff emptying out bottles in the early hours, waking us up. Friends and family who have also stayed there in the past go elsewhere now, and we have had our last stay. I always use review sites to check out a hotel before booking, but I haven't felt compelled to review a hotel before. I have decided to make comment here because of the attitude of the management. They have been promising to attend to poor maintenance and food now for some time, but as I say above, these are clearly just words.
Small room, not good value for money
from Austravel
The hotel looks good from the outside and is well located. However my room was very small with only a single bed. The bathroom was also very small, but modern. The "Hampshire Breakfast" turned out to be a standard English breakfast but was too cold to enjoy. Unfortunately a disappointing experience for a fairly pricey overnight stay.
Old-fashioned castle
from Herdinna
I stayed at this hotel in May 2006 for two nights. On Saturday night there was a wedding, and the band was playing loud and late. I felt like I was an uninvited guest - even though I stayed in my room. The hotel is quite old-fashioned, but tidy. Garden was beautiful with a lot of rhododendrons in blossom.
what an improvement

I last stayed at this Hotel a couple of years ago and i have to say it was looking tired and worn, I don't know how it got 3 stars. Today all i can say is WOW! what a change the whole hotel has had a complete refurb and it made my stay a pleasure. The bedroom and the dining room was an experience i would do again and again. The staff very friendly and helpful. All in all a very good stay which i would definitely do again and again.

Everything about this hotel was great! Good staff, great rooms and easy internet access
Single rooms to be avoided at all costs
from IT-nerd-on-the-road
•My room was in the attic with access via badly worn and dirty carpets, filthy dividing doors and an odour of damp in the corridor •The shower-room would have been adequate except the basin was so small that, even if one had the determination to make use of it other than for washing one’s hands, a precisely situated glass shelf removed any such possibility except for those gifted with extra-ordinary upper-body flexibility. •The plaster on the shower-room ceiling was falling off, obviously as keen to make an escape as any occupant of the room. •The shower was obviously only available by appointment and certainly not recommended for use should anyone in the adjoining twelve rooms have the temerity to want water pressure at the same moment. •What little window of opportunity was offered by the gods of the water tank was scuppered by the deceiving plumbing controls which provide water of a temperature opposite to that indicated. Their executive rooms are very nice but were built 40 years later and are worthy of a 3 star. Singles are for the desperate only!
We have just left the Lismoyne and were so aghast at how much it has gone down hill. We lived in Fleet for 40 years (before moving north) and used to spend a lot of time at the hotel, particularly for Sunday lunches. It was a luxurious place in those days. We last stayed... more
