A real let down
1 / 10
Oct 2011, The Oldies

We have just left the Lismoyne and were so aghast at how much it has gone down hill. We lived in Fleet for 40 years (before moving north) and used to spend a lot of time at the hotel, particularly for Sunday lunches. It was a luxurious place in those days. We last stayed there in 2001 and it was as usual great. But now the rooms need to receive some tlc. The housekeeping is dreadful. Rough piles of dirty sheets were left to clutter up the hallways until the evening. We had to kick them out of the way to get to our room. Toiletries were not replaced and neither were the biscuits on the tea/coffee tray. There were also not enough toilet rolls. The breakfast was horrendous. This is a buffet style at weekends and the cooked food is kept in warming dishes that serve only to completely dry the food out rather than keep it warm in any way. It seems that this situation has been going on for a long time and I really wish that I had read the reviews before booking our stay. All the things that were a problem during our stay seem to have been a problem for others before us. We went with a relative and tried our unique keys in each others doors and guess what - both keys opened both doors. How bad is that? We must point out that the duty manager and receptionists were very good but some drastic changes need to be made. Do the owners know about all this? If so they should be ashamed to let that lovely hotel go so downhill. We regret that we had to pay the amount that we did for our rooms and feel that some sort of rebate should be offered.

The hotel is beautifully positioned...

Aug 2008, Mr C Hall

The hotel is beautifully positioned in the town.
Although I was initially impressed, particularly by the garden, the experience was not a good one.
Fortunately I had only booked for one night.
The room allocated was on the ground floor with doors opening on to the garden.
The windows would not open and the room was airless. The only recourse was to open the patio doors at night. Not very good for security. The patio had not been cleaned for some time.
There were a total of 12 comments which were presented to the manager including the above and a complaint about the breakfast coffee which was undrinkable. I note the other reviewer had a similar problem.

This hotel is situated only 5 minutes...

May 2006, HW Happy

This hotel is situated only 5 minutes walk away from Fleet town centre. It is located in some nice surroundings, feeling quite secluded, even though its next to some houses (that look just as good as the hotel).
The hotel itself is nice. There is nothing that is really wrong with the layout or the decor, but nothing that smacks you as being amazing either, but everything is clean and tidy which is nice.
The room was very good too, with everything you would expect and some more. Chocolates placed on the bed every morning, all appliances like trouser press, iron, tele, kettle e.t.c. The shower was great and the bathroom looked very clean and new. The room size was good as well, I had a bay window looking out the front of the hotel which was nice.
The hotel had a great bar that wasn't terribly expensive and had a good range of alcohol and soft drinks. The hotel food was also very good. They also had wireless and internet access which was very easy to setup and use.
Now for the not so good stuff. The doors are very heavy and don't seem to be able to close quietly, hence every time someone goes out their room, everyone hears. The bed mattress was a little sunk in the middle (although it did seem comfy when I was on it). I was also just above the reception, which meant in the morning I was woken very early with the phone ringing constantly.
The breakfast buffet was ok, I think I have had better in a budget chain of hotels however. The coffee was always cold, and if you didn't go down early you got the impression you were just hassling the staff.
On the whole tho, a very nice hotel, only a few issues, which if changed would make it very good indeed.
