Beaulieu Hotel

At £140 per night for a double room, this hotel is not good value-for-money. Common areas such as the bar, dining room etc are excellent but our room and I suspect most others are dated. Fixtures and fittings are poor quality and tired. The noise insulation levels between our room and the room above was also very poor. Thankfully there weren't noisy neighbours above. A small room for the price, also. A fair price wouild be about £70 for this quality and size of accommodation.

We have just returned from an Easter break at this hotel where we were made very welcome. It is true that the hotel is a little faded in parts, although having said that, our room was pleasant in an old-fashioned way, and scrupulously clean. The hotel is closing for six months in September for a complete overhaul, which will see a new restaurant and five new bedrooms as well as the refurbishment of all existing rooms. Have just returned from a 2 night stay. I think the hotel can only be described as a curate's egg. The good parts were definately the food - the evening 3 course meal was very good and the breakfast was fine too. The location is good - in the heart of the heath by Beaulieu Rd Railway Station with easy access to the tourist spots. But please don't think it is near Southampton - Beaulieu & Lyndhurst are much nearer. It can be good value if you receive one of their special offers. Your enjoyment of this hotel will probably depend on just what your expecting, the rooms are a tad dated and those expecting champagne and bellboys on arrival might be less than excited. However the staff are helpful, the hotel is comfortable, food excellent and location nice and rural but with a pub next door. The pool is not the biggest but is adequate for a relaxing evening dip, the location is great for exploring the new forest and surrounding villages.
