Norton Manor Hotel

we stayed 2 nights 30+31 March, leaving 1st April. Booked QLuxury weekend with late checkout, chocs and champagne - all great. Very good value indeed - but shop around: the hotels own web site did not provide the best deal on this occasion. 137 is a "refurbished" room and was contemporary in style, very clean, modern, and well equipped (see photos)...full english breakfast very good : plenty of food and choice. We had excellent service throughout our stay in all respects. The bar food, drinks and service was very good indeed on this weekend. Maybe more explicit use of quality local produce might encourage us to spend even more. We experienced none of the service issues mentioned in other reviews. Now the gripes! Our room was not soundproofed in any way. Gaps under doors - our room 137 had a large-ish gap under the door - the consequence is that a normal conversation can be clearly heard from a guest outside the room and in return anyone can hear anything we might be up to (or watching on TV)! The construction of this block also means that the guest in the room above 137 can be heard walking about as the ceiling/floor creeks! Heavy sleepers will not mind - light sleepers beware. Next time we'll request a 2nd floor room. Use the two small cushions from the bed to plug the gap. No spa bath jacuzzi in the health centre which is a shame (the space perhaps became a fountain instead?) - steam room never got warm enough for us...maybe the gap under the door! LOL. We did not use the internet. And movies were paid for individually which could get expensive. These minor points aside: a great stay and we enjoyed it. Jerry & Miki
