Arrived on a Friday for a one night stay. Very pleasant Reception, and very impressed with our room - which included a complimentary bottle of pink Champagne and chocolates. Spacious room equipped and furnished to a high standard including king-size bed and plasma TV -... more

Having booked before we read all the negative reviews we were a bit nervous about what we would find. However we were pleaseantly surprised. We had an exectutive room which was a good size, very comfortable & had a huge double window looking straight into the forest. We had... more

My Son was married there last weekend and the wedding was wonderful, we all had a geat day, but that had nothing whatsoever to do with the management and staff, it was only made possible by the lovely location and the people at the wedding. The staff are some of the worse... more

Having read some of these reviews after booking a long weekend at this hotel I was dreading the worst, having said that I was more than pleasantly surprised at the excellent service we received. Yes they employ a lot of staff who don't have English as their first language,... more

This hotel has a very wide range of reviews and I can understand why. The hotel service/facilities are inconsistent. We had one night's dinner which was excellent - lovely food, beautifully presented and good service - not brilliant but no complaints. We had two breakfasts... more

Went for dinner - fantastic location, good front of house/reception, really very good food indeed, completely and utterly let down by weak service. We were the lucky ones at least the service was adequate just unfriendly - but certainly not of the standard expected of this... more

The best thing about our weekend to Rhinefield House was the ornamental drive leading up to it. The house itself is beautiful and they have just added a new wing which is very much in keeping with the original building. We stayed in one of the Executive rooms which was a... more

Lovely building, beautiful setting. The most appalling service I have come across anywhere in the world. Nothing else about the hotel can make up for it. Over 2 hours in dining room to get our starter. Staff, including management, seem to have given up. Not even up to... more

We had our wedding here and it was a disappointment. Staff were not in the slightest bit friendly. We didn't even have to officially check in, they just gave us the key. Had to show ourselves to our room. The hotel accepts no responsibility regardless. They failed take us... more

Dreadful service and very poor food
In summary the hotel is poorly managed, The staff are young willing and very inexperienced The chefs are over-complicating the dishes and bordering on the pretentious There is no warmth or hospitality as shown by other hotels in the group The rooms are not represented correctly and the whole experience is oversold Save your money and stay in a cheaper hotel you then won’t feel ripped off. For the record I have stayed at 3 other Handpicked hotels this year and they where excellent…. When we arrived we thought WOW !!! But, upon checking in we where greeted with a surly unhelpful receptionist and began to have our doubts. These where well founded…. The room smelt of damp so we asked to be moved, it was virtually an empty hotel, (morning receptionist told us), but we where told only 1 room available, thankfully this was better although very narrow due to the large bed supporting the cheapest mattress I have ever had the displeasure to come across. Hence no sleep due the twang of the springs all night. We asked to check our dining reservation to be told after 5 minutes of keyboard bashing and no interaction that “Computer says No”, we where then offered 8.30pm but asked if we could squeeze in at 7.00pm after lots of head scratching this was allowed. So after a mad rush to get ready for dinner we arrived at 7.00pm to an empty restaurant, even empty of waiting staff… had we the wrong dining room? Where we too early? Nope at 7.05pm a young waiter wearing the menu on his trousers greeted us and showed us to a table of 2 set for the 3 of us. We ate the cold pretentious offerings squashed on our table, helped ourselves to our wine and water placed on the fireplace and later after 1 and half hours when just 9 more customers had sparsely populated the dining room we were offered other couples wine and water. Breakfast was an even bigger disaster, 15 minutes for a pot of coffee coloured water, 10 more minutes and lots of requests for toast, butter, clean forks, milk, etc, etc, etc.. the grill was cold and the organic lovingly cared for eggs where completely ruined, dried, and sat on cold grease… once again no culinary skill… It was not worth a 10th of what we had to pay.. such a shame as it looked so good.
