Lyndhurst Park Hotel

This is a good location for exploring the forest, but it was a real shame to see what could be such a good hotel looking so shabby. Our room was quite dated, but did have a balcony overlooking the gardens at the back which was quite pretty. Otherwise though, for the money it was quite disappointing. The hotel rooms desperately need renovating (communal areas were in better shape), and the food was poor. Staff were helpful and friendly.

This hotel is very tatty and needs a large investment. It is very large and the rooms can be a long way from reception. Several things in the room didn't work. The room itself was of a very poor standard.

We recently spent two nights at this hotel for my husband's birthday. Never again! Arriving about 6.45pm, there was very little parking available. We booked in and were told no dinner was available until after 8.30.. no problem as we had intended to eat out. After a half mile trek to our room we found it to be quite nice and big, overlooking the garden, but then we discovered the bathroom! Filthy light pull that put you off to start with. The hotel gets better as you get closer. The car park is unremarkable, although it is certainly big enough. The entrance and lobby are large, there are several lounges, and our room was one of 2 with a bay window over the garden, witha lovely view. This hotel gave us the best night's sleep for months, one of the best hotel gardens we have seen, and a really good English Breakfast. We did not start on a good note- we were told by the reception staff that our booking, made in July, with written confirmation in front of them , did not exist - we 'must have slipped off the computer'. Then we were offered a twin instead of a double only changing to a double when we seemed determined. However on arrival at the room , we found why nobody else had it. The Lyndhurst Park Hotel is the best in the forest, we have been going for 9 years now and the staff, food and location is absolutley superb! We spend as much time as possible there, at least a dozen times a year, that includes the Christmasand New Year packages which are great value for the money. TheManager and the Staff work very hard to achieve the excellence that this hotel offers, we look forward to our next stay there very soon.

Recently stayed at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel for 2 nights. We'd forked out a bit extra as we were going to a wedding and wanted to treat ourselves. But for the price (£120 a night for 2 people) we were incredibly disappointed. The room was very shabby, with tired wallpaper peeling off the walls. The bathroom was shocking - it was hard to get into as there was no space between the door and the bath. We recently had our wedding reception at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel and thought it was great! We only had an evening reception as we actually got married in Italy. The function room was lovely (although a few areas looked a bit tired!) with doors opening out onto their lovely gardens. The buffet was great, not just my thoughts but quite a few of my guests commented on it. We've been going down to the New Forest for over 10 years and it's a most beautiful place. The Lyndhurst Park Hotel is located in the village. It was a last minute booking and we got a premiere room for £70 per person per per night. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was located at the back of the hotel. I'd recommend a room at the back where it's quieter. The hotel has an out door heated swimming pool which we used and was great. The rooms however, were not so great. The room: faulty appliances and scolding water from the shower! The food: service was bizarre (staff come out with an array of meals and if you want it shout!) food was dire.....steer clear of the scary looking prawns, take a chainsaw for the pate and add lots of seasoning for the green water (the soup!). Veg was cold and curling and the turkey was like chewing a table! Most of those who valued their stomach did not eat!
