We arrived at the Ryde Castle after booking first, then reading reviews after, with trepadation. We needn't have worried, the Hotel was very clean, welcoming, there is no lift and immediately our cases were taken upstairs by friendly staff. Our room was massive, with four poster bed and three queen anne chairs not to mention settee. We ate in the restaurant on two occasions, the food was excellent and very good value for money. We had breakfast in our room every morning from an extensive menue which the staff seemed very happy to bring up the flight of stairs daily, this was because husband has walking problems, the staff couldn't have been nicer, from the friendly chef to the Manager and family. The restaurant was very modern the bar very welcoming and bar snacks very good.,ok maybe a few areas on landings could be spruced up a little more, but all in all this Hotel comes well recommended

I stayed at the Ryde Castle for a few nights over a weekend in July 2009 with my partner and my Mum and Dad stayed in a room too. Our room was huge with a spare bed in an adjoining room - excellent for a family to get some privacy, however we had no need for it. The staff were lovely and, even at the busiest of times, were polite and tentative. The first night there was a jazz band (not really our taste!) and the 2nd night was a wedding. Even with these two loud events we had no problem sleeping. The breakfast was plentiful and stocked up frequently each morning. I will be visiting family in Ryde in the future and will definitely be using this hotel again. I gave a 9 out of 10 as there were small jobs needing done around the building such as light bulbs needing replacing, small areas of paintwork needing touched in. This made no difference to the quality of our stay but others may find it off putting in certain circumstances.

The location of this hotel is superb, right on the seafront offering fantastic views
across the Solent. The room was clean and very spacious and the staff were very
friendly.
Unfortunately what let the hotel down was the brasserie where they served breakfast and evening meal if chosen. The service was very poor, we waited almost an hour for our starter. The menu itself was limited being told that a lot of what was on it was unavailable. The food when it did come was average. Again at breakfast there was only one waitress and although we were the only people in the restaurant we weren't acknowledged for nearly 15 minutes the one morning.
It was a shame as this did reflect poorly on the overall impression.

we have just returned from the isle of wight and allthough Ryde castle doesn't live up to the magical impression you have in the mind, i must say it was very clean and tidy and the staff were lovely. We ate in the restraurant several time's and the food was very good, it is a very relaxed place to go

On my first visit to the Isle of Wight I stayed at the Ryde Castle Hotel. It was wonderful, the food was superb and the location of the Hotel was second to none. The summer of 2006 was one of the hottest for a long time and i was very lucky to be there at that time.
The hotel overlooked the Esplanade and on waking each morning I opened my bedroom window and looked onto the beautiful beach just beyond the Esplanade. The beach was 7 miles along and very well looked after - it was spotlessly clean. Just 1 minute away was the Hydrofoil which goes across the water in minutes to Southampton.
In the evenings I had my meal sitting outside - there was a small raised brasserie off the dining room and it was a real pleasure to just sit there with a lovely meal and watch the world going by. I was there only for a week but the memory of a fabulous holiday will live with me forever.
I have nothing but praise for the Isle of Wight in general and would love to return to the Ryde Castle for 2 weeks !!!!!
I hope everyone enjoys this review and visits the Ryde Castle (and the Isle of Wight) to see for themselves.
