Hotel only 2 years old so everything...
10 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr F Banjo

Hotel only 2 years old so everything is new, big room and big patio, TV, Mini bar, decent mattress, spotless with excellent daily cleaning. Food really great, what a choice!! Breakfasts a mammoth buffet, excellent coffee too. Dinners a wider choice than you could eat - even Yorkshire Pudding twice!!
Could not fault anything at all about this hotel. Staff very polite and helpful. We have stayed at many hotels and rate this a top value. Even the view - not a high rise in sight, just the hills, buts its minutes from the action. You have a few pubs right nearby, then quite a few good ones about 5 minutes away walking, and its a Euro on the bus into town. Staying in central Benidorm is not fun, we have done it. This place is at edge of town, five minutes from Albir, or 5 down to the fun.
Superb swimming pool - they also have an indoor pool, and spas, plus the pampering dept downstairs if you want that.
Did not bother much with evening entertainment as there are a load of pubs down the road offering 5 acts each night, but there were nightly acts in the hotel, and its a pleasant bar.
Mixture of Spanish, English Dutch etc in this hotel, no chavs it is classy. Only saw one drunk, and that's when I looked in the mirror in the glass elevator.
Would stay here again, its topper. Banjofred and Mrs banjo

I feel that I must start with the bad...
9 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr R Forrest

I feel that I must start with the bad points first, but there are not many to mention.
When reading other reviews I thought most people had got it wrong about the food but after a couple of visits to have dinner I must agree with most comments. The hotel is listed as being a four star hotel but the food honestly would be lucky to be a two star. I am not saying you could not eat anything just that the quality is very poor. We only ate breakfast once it was that bad, but we found a small English owned cafe just outside the hotel to the right, 100 hundred yards away called the Peppermill.
Second point is the entertainment or the lack of it; it is only catered for the Spanish, nothing at all to keep British guests from going else where at night, if they don’t want British they should say so. Saying that the Spanish are as friendly as anyone and they do not bother anyone.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Biz [which we loved] and if you get fed up walking you can get a number 10 bus outside the hotel for 1 euro anywhere.
The highlights: the rooms are very well decorated and have plenty lights and electrical sockets, the towels are changed every day and the bed linen every two/three days.I had a 3 year old daughter with me and she loved it. The children’s little water slides kept her amused all day, and then there is a little swing park next to that when they have had enough of the water, and finally they also have a soft play area inside which consists of everything you see at cheeky monkeys. One word of warning is to watch children on the metal bridge that crosses the swimming pool it gets very hot, and I saw one little girl get her foot burned on it (it should have some rubber over it).
For a really good night out go to the Benidorm Palace ,which is only 5 minutes down the road, its abit like river dance and you can have a meal and a drink while watching the show. Don’t know of any theatre in Scotland where you can do that.
So a quick recap:
1 - food crap
2 - entertainment for British - poor
3 - for the young children first class
4 - rooms beautiful and clean
5 - would I come back to this hotel - yes
6 - very relaxing and quiet

We had a 3 night break at the Hotel...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs S Payne

We had a 3 night break at the Hotel Deloix and were very pleased with most aspects.
The hotel is modern and airy and, unlike most Benidorm Hotels, low-level with a nice sized pool and no trouble getting sunbeds whatever the time of day.
The buffet meals were fine, some strange concoctions but then we're happy to try whatever's on offer and when you're only there for 3 nights it's no big deal. The staff were all pleasant, especially the bar staff.
The evening's entertainment wasn't great, a bit holiday- camp, but again we were only there for 3 nights.
The rooms were a good size with a good size bathroom and kept nice and clean and the single beds were very roomy. We were unfortunate to have a balcony overlooking the children's playground area with no sunshine morning or evening, but then we weren't in our rooms very much.
Our only complaint about the hotel was that we were kept waiting 2 hours to check-in, no joke when you've been up since 3.30am.
The hotel is located up a hill in a quieter part of Benidorm but within easy travelling distance by bus or a 15min walk downhill, 20min uphill back! So you are able to enjoy the facilities in the resort centre and the wonderful, long sandy beach and retreat to your haven when the sun goes down.
But why did no-one tell us about the rocky seabed on the beaches of Benidorm? I enjoy a swim in the sea but this was impossible without slipping on the dangerous rock bed once you got past knee-deep water. The sandy beach is very misleading.
As for going back to Benidorm, maybe again for a short break but I can't imagine I'd want to stay anywhere else but the Deloix, it is a bit of luxury in a budget-orientated resort.

This hotel was fantastic! Everything...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss D Taylor

This hotel was fantastic! Everything was spot on. The rooms were lovely, very clean and we had clean towels everyday, even when we hadn’t required them. The staff were very friendly, and made sure we had a table in the dining room every day.
And as for the food, it was the best! Loads of choice, my partner is very fussy eater but he loved it! The choice was excellent. Meat was cooked in front of you and a good choice of fish and meat plenty of salad, pasta, veg.
Of course they cater for the Spanish, you’re in Spain. The only thing was the bar prices, compared to the rest of Benidorm, although it was only 1,40 euro for a glass of wine and 2 euro for beer. A cocktail was 6,50 euro but bar staff were very nice.
Breakfast was nice fresh eggs and lots of choice.
The pool area was lovely; even though we went the busyeseek in August we always got a sun bed everyday, and the pool very clean, cleaners were around all day.
We ate out once during our stay just to say we went somewhere different, and wished we stayed in the hotel, avoid the Facacia boyfriend was very ill. Pizza was swimming in grease. Pasta was not cooked yuk.
We will return to this hotel again next year, loved it.

We stayed for 9 days in August and...
2 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr K Scott

We stayed for 9 days in August and initial impressions were good as the building looked clean, modern and reception and communal areas were spacious and well furnished.
However echoing the views of most of the other contributors the food was appalling. The evening meal selection was poor and badly cooked and the service did not begin until 8 a.m. meaning half the night was over and the kids were tired and shops closing before we could get into town.
At breakfast time the food was repetitive and queues were lengthy(when I say queue only the English and French queued , the Spanish just went to the front and ignored anyone waiting), as most of the Spanish guests were taking large portions of bread, ham, cheeses and croissants and filling their beach bags for their lunch later in the day.
When the chocolate croissants appeared it was comical as they practically fought each other to steal the most.
To top it all the English kids were outnumbered by the Spanish and they formed a gang to bully the English kids, herding them into one corner of the swimming pool and chanting 'No English, No English'.
The pool staff didn't want to know and even the entertainments host hated any non Spanish. All the announcements were made in Spanish with a few odd words in English and French thrown in as an afterthought. The Spanish kids are left to run wild by their arrogant parents and the noise levels throughout the day in the swimming pool and in the games room are unbelievable.
The parents are there half the time and totally ignore their kids smashing the place up as pool cues are battered off the floor and table and the air hockey bats are smashed repeatedly off the surface of the game.
It’s my fifth trip to Benidorm and I've never known anything like it.
To cap it all the resident duo were pathetic and 'sang' the same fifteen songs in the same order every night apart from Sunday. Sunday was great, they had a day off.
I'll be back to Benidorm very soon, but will not be returning to the four stars Deloix.
I would rather stay in the camp site up the road, in fact I would rather stay in a cardboard box in the middle of the road.

We stayed at hotel Deloix for a week...

We stayed at hotel Deloix for a week in august we were delayed for 10 hours! We finally got to the hotel it was absolutely fantastic, lovely and clean the two pools, two hot tubs a whirlpool, a mini aqua park for the kids.
The staff were very friendly about 20mins from shops and bars the only thing lacking was the food.
Nothing for children to eat very repetitive mostly food for the Italians and Spanish we ate out most nights because there was absolutely nothing to eat, the food was shocking for a four star more like two.

Just had a week half board at this...
6 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs J Traynor

Just had a week half board at this hotel.
Couldn’t fault the accommodation - rooms beautiful, linen and towels changed every day, cleanliness very good. Swimming pools fantastic - no shortage of loungers and no fights over them either.
Only thing to be aware of before you go is that you must wear a swimming cap in the indoor spa pool. These can be bought from a machine in reception for 2E.
Reception staff quite helpful, although we had to wait 3 hours to check in! The bar staff very pleasant, and poolside snack bar is fine. The hotel itself is beautiful. The location is lovely (about 20 mins from the town centre).
The facilities are all great, however, we did not feel that the food was anywhere near 4* - more like 2*. The food was very limited in choice - no vegetarian options at all.
The meat on the hot griddle was usually half raw as the chef could not cook it quickly enough at busy times. Selection was very poor. Who ever went to a 4* hotel and had hot dogs as the main meat selection on the griddle?
Breakfast was not much better. Sometimes looked liked the bacon had been cooked at 5am and left for 3 hours. One morning we had hash browns but half of them were frozen! When we complained to the staff they were very rude. They did not clear dirty plates away, and were generally quite insolent.
We didn’t feel that they did the hotel any favours, and the food definitely lets this hotel down. We spoke to the holiday rep at the time, but she didn’t think there was anything wrong with the food ' I had fish and salad and it was fine'.
I think people's experience of what makes a 4* hotel is very different.

The hotel is lovely, great kids...
6 / 10
May 2007, Mr R Hyman

The hotel is lovely, great kids areas, rooms were clean and just enough space for 2 adults, 1 4yr old and 1 9month old!
However the food definitely needs to be improved. There was plenty of variety but the quality was just not there!
It made it very hard to feed the kids anything other than bread and chips, and the meat and fish was always overcooked, over flavoured, and being honest rubbish!
Fruit that had gone off was out on the tables, mouldy pineapples, and apples to name but two!
In all honesty the Hotel itself, surroundings, decor rooms, and staff etc were excellent, between 4 and 5 star.
The food was 1-2 stars though.
If you are going, stick with B&B and go down to Benidorm old town near the harbour for some decent food! Then it is worth every penny.

We've just returned from 14 nights at...
7 / 10
Apr 2007, Ms A Liddle

We've just returned from 14 nights at this hotel. At the time of booking there were no customer views on the site so we only had the Thomson description & video to go on.
On arrival, our initial impressions were very good. It's in a lovely location away from hustle and bustle of Benidorm centre, which was only a 10 minute walk away, just along from the 'Benidorm Palace'.
The reception is spacious & modern, if a little eclectic. Rooms are nicely furnished but we could still smell the stale cigarette aromas of the previous occupants.
As non-smokers we were surprised, on enquiring at reception about being moved, that are no non-smoking rooms at all in this hotel.
Our room, on the 1st floor at the front of the hotel, had a spacious balcony looking out onto very picturesque views. We were prepared to put up with the constant traffic noise from the busy road to retain this view but if this would bother you, it may be worth considering requesting a room off the front, at a loss of the view.
Maids visit daily, making up the beds and leaving clean towels, however you can place the 'do not disturb' sign on your door if you don't require this service.
Meal times were longer than a lot of hotels we've visited and the hotel suggests avoiding the busy times without telling you when this is. At busy times it was very noisy, with queues for hot drinks and toast at breakfast times. We found it best to get there within the 1st half hour.
Our biggest gripe, being vegetarian, was the lack of indicators whether food was suitable, exacerbated by the Spanish habit of adding meat to vegetables e.g. sliced sausage added to peas or bacon wrapped around asparagus.
On enquiring at reception about vegetarian food, they took umbrage assuming we were criticising the food, then appeared incredulous at our problem of being unable to distinguish what was suitable.
Whilst this marred our enjoyment of some of our evening meals, meat eaters were well catered for with the majority of dishes being meat and fish based (some show cooked).
The restaurant staff were always very pleasant and whilst unobtrusive were attentive at all times. Entertainment was a little basic. Personally we do not think this hotel merits a 4T rating based on other 4T hotels we have stayed in.
Public transport is very good in Benidorm, most journeys costing only 1 Euro. Would recommend visiting Altea which is very pretty & takes about 45 minutes on the number 10 bus.
The highlight of our holiday was Guadalest. There is only one no. 20 bus per day leaving Benidorm Centre about 9:15 via Altea then along pretty mountain roads. Unfortunately you only have 2 hours to tour this mountain village which has a lot of museums for such a tiny place.
We spent most of the time at the animal Sanctuary. As it says, each of the animals has their own story of cruelty, which is visible on the faces of many of them. It is an amazing experience to be so close to so many of these great animals, you could literally touch some of them through the cages, if you were mad enough. It puts a lot of things into perspective & if you go give our love to Lara the beautiful lioness.
For cheap drink and snacks we spent a few happy afternoons in the company of Leon in the Old Timers English bar, just two minutes from the Hotel.

I returned from the hotel Deloix in...
8 / 10
Apr 2007, Miss S Dixon

I returned from the hotel Deloix in Benidorm last Saturday. It was a lovely 4 night break!
Went on a half board basis. The hotel is beautiful, its new and the rooms are new and modern.
The weather was shocking it rained every day but there was a lovely indoor heated pool with jet spas and it was lovely and warm.
It takes about 15 mins to walk downhill into the Levante area (its not up cardiac hill), the hotel is situated close to the hotel Melia. It’s near the Chinese that’s 4 Euros all you can eat!
The food in the hotel wasn’t that great to be honest. I'd risk bed and breakfast there but to be honest the evening meals were a bit strange.
All in all the hotel was peaceful and I would definitely stay there again!

This was my second stay at the Deloix in six months - it is immaculately clean, smart and comfortable.
The food is second to none and the staff are courteous and very helpful.
The pools and pool areas are excellent and spotless.
I have stayed in high class accommodation all over the world and this hotel compares with the best. I would recommend it to anyone.

Accommodation, facilities and food...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs F McGuigan

1 reader found this review helpful

Accommodation, facilities and food were absolutely first class. Not much in way of entertainment but a lovely peaceful holiday and only 3 or 4 minutes by bus (stops right across from hotel and only costs 1 euro) to all the buzz, pubs, shops, beach etc.
Food fantastic as I said before but maybe not for kids who are fussy and only eat burgers, pizza etc but I must have put on about 6 pounds over the 3 days we were there. All staff friendly and helpful apart from a couple of the bar staff who left me standing for over 10 minutes while they had a wee chat between themselves, but overall, can't fault it. Great wee cosy pub about 100 yards from hotel called The Hype; out main door and turn right just past a couple of shops. Owned by Gary (a fantastic singer), and his girlfriend, and frequented by Scots and English locals, who made us feel really welcome. Would go back anytime, in fact, thinking of booking up for next summer!!
