Of course one has to balance quality with price and we were on a very good value Best Western package. Our room was perhaps a little jaded but very warm, cosy and comfortable.
It looked onto the car park (there is a supplement for sea view rooms) but we compensated by passing an hour or two with the papers in the fine lounge, which in November we had to ourselves.
The en-suite bathroom was very clean and smart with plenty of toiletries. The bedroom was well stocked with the tea/coffee/biscuits which were frequently replenished.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of hot and cold choices. The four course dinner was good too and very efficiently served, perhaps one could have lingered longer between courses but that is probably being a bit picky. All the staff were notably efficient and friendly.
The centre of Torquay is about a twenty minute walk from the Livermead Cliff Hotel. There is a good frequent bus service but it is a pleasant walk around the bay.
A minor point – the lift from ground to second floor is old fashioned, tiny and frankly best avoided if you can.
After two nights dinner, bed and breakfast we concluded that the Livermead Cliff is a very nice hotel in a good location.
