My partner and 3 children have just had a fabulous stay at The Grosvenor. I had read some of the not so good reviews, but as we took advantage of the children under 16 free offer, it seemed worth the risk! We had a fabulous time! Food, staff, location, accommodation,... more

Looking for a week-end break to celebrate yet another wedding anniversary, I came upon the details of The Grosvenor Hotel on the internet. We knew nothing of the hotel, nor, indeed, of Torquay, so wee took a gamble and booked in. The bed and breakfast rates were very... more

Super value for money
Excellent friendly service. Beautiful hotel with spacious, luxurious rooms. Very highly recommended.
Excellent value and excellent service all round, must return
Staff all pleasant and very informative, food first class and plenty of it. The entertainment (every night of the week) is first class and enjoyable. Rooms are all en-suite and very clean and comfortable. Accessability for wheelchairs and hard of walking good and being improved to even better standards now. 2 mins walk from the beach and sea and it really is 2 mins, and only a 10 min stroll along the seafront to the main shopping area. There is a gym, Spa and 2 swimming pools (1 inside, 1 outside in the sunny climate). If your coming to Torquay on a trip no matter what type, you couldn't do any better than stay here.
Excellent Mini Break
We cannot speak highly enough of the reception we received on arrival.The food was wholesome and well prepared. The manager was attentive to all the guests needs, he was always on hand during the day.The exterior was a little jaded,don't let that put you off. The new owners have great plans for the Hotel. I would not hesitate in recommending this Hotel for the Mini Break we have just had. Great value for money.
return trip is a must
this hotel is for the more mature person/s for a relaxed stay in torquay,it is idearly situated to walk into the town or the bus is at the bottem of the road to visit other local areas,the staff cannot be more obliging from the reception to dining room ,the domestics to the pool ang gym attendents,even steve the maintenance man always had a word to sayto the guests.the dining room is waiter service which makes your feel comfortable,and the food from breakfast to dinner was excelent ,,sufficient,filling, and tasty. my room as a single traveler, but in a group was a double room with a bath/shower and hot water which cannot be said for other hotels, , clean towels as required are also available for the pool area,the pool area also has a hot tub,jacuzzi and gym which come without extra charge.for a quiet evening in the bar lounge area/consevetory or enjoying the evening entertainment with dancing/singing if you wish to join in.overall this hotel will only improve with quality throughout the year.a return trip to the GROSVENER will be on the agenda in the year to come,well done to all of you,my stay was more than i expected thanks to you all.
Thank you for a great stay
From the greeting of the staff and manager we were made to feel totally welcome at all times the food was excellent and the rooms were very clean and clomfortable we enjoyed the entertainment provided and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to visitors to the area We have no doubt that we will return in the future after such an enjoyable stay Many thanks to Richard the manager and we wish them every success in the future Alistair and Yvonne Mackenzie
Pleasantly Surprised
Read the reviews so a bit apprehensive but, under new management, so what the heck! what we got was a hotel full of character with helpful staff, hugh bedrooms, adequate meal choice and good entertainment in the evening and well placed for the sea and town centre. Yes, needs some renovation work in a few areas but that doesn't take away from the overall pleasant atmosphere this hotel provides,
Two coachloads from Bransley and Northamptonshire certainly enjoyed their five days there.
This hotel has just been bought by the new owner who is trying to bring it back to its original high standard. It was a remarkable value holiday in a very interesting hotel with lots of different bedrooms and nooks and crannies to look into, well worth exploring. It was very clean, the food very basic but good and enjoyable, service in the restaurant was fast and efficient and friendly. All the staff were ready to help whenever they could. Two coaches of people really enjoyed their stay, the entertainment in the evening was much better than expected and we never heard a moan all the five days we were there. What more can you ask for a cheap and cheerful holiday in January ? We loved it. Good Luck to the new Manager who takes over soon he has a task in front of him to make this into a 'real' three star hotel but I am sure that he will succeed. A big thank to all the staff and the new owner Mark.
A Pleasant Surprise
Booked by work for a business trip, so expected not a lot, as usually checked into budget hotels. Checking in was prompt and efficient. My room was large clean and well appointed, not what I was expecting, I even had a jacuzzi bath!!!! Bar was more than adequate with good choice and pricing on par with pubs, which again is unusual for a hotel, even a happy hour, what a bonus. The restaurant served well cooked English food, served by efficient staff, both dinner and breakfast did not dissapoint. The Grosvenor also had good leisure facilities, pool, spa, gym, sauna, which after a day of business meetings was a welcome stress buster. Each evening of my stay there was even live entertainment!!!! As a business user, more than I expected, will be back for a leisure break. Well Grosvenor, a very happy visitor to your hotel.
