Arundel Arms, pleasant hotel with comfortable rooms and surroundings and friendly staff.
The restaurant uses a good range of local produce but be aware that the style of the food although is good, it has a flavour of nouvelle cuisine, posh and small portions and a little on the expensive side. £42 for a 3 course dinner but they will offer some nice pre meal nibbles and after dinner truffles.
But if you’re looking to have a nice fill after a hard day’s work then be prepared to be peckish after.
The hotel is famed for its local game and fishing background. There is also attached a nice friendly local pub. Lifton is a small town and nothing to go out to walk to unless you fancy one of the other two local hotels but they too are of the same meal types.
All in all a nice friendly hotel but one that a middle feel about the place. I would recommend however booking direct with this hotel to get the best rates booking through an agent can incur a hike of up to %30 in the cost of your room.

We stayed one night in a compact double room which overlooked the road. Traffic noise a problem with the window open but when closed, was bearable. Bed clean and very comfortable. Ate in the restaurant from the daily menu, at £39.50 pp we were pleased to receive good value for money as the meal was delicious and portions larger than what we had expected. Restaurant staff helpful and polite. We stayed as part of a newspaper deal, (room only basis) so most definately received good value. Had I of paid full price I would have requested a room change to the back of the hotel. Didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment on that. (We had a hearty breakfast up the road later in the morning). All in all a pleasant stay and I would recommend.
