Myself, husband and two children age 4 and 8 years, stayed at the Buckerell Lodge for one night, the staff were really friendly and efficient, and extremely helpful. We had an interconnecting room for the children which they loved as they had there own TV, bathroom and tea making facilities. The rooms were modern and clean and had everything you required. The food was lovely and did'nt have to wait long which is always a bonus when you have 2 hungry children. Breakfast was busy and would of preferred an help yourself, but the choice was excellant. Overall, as an overnight stay we felt that it was worth the money and had a relaxing friendly atmosphere which is alway nice after a long day.

I booked a room for my disabled wife, yet it was down a stairway.
Some carpets in the hallway stairs held together by gaffer tape.
The carpet in our room was grubby with dark stains.
Room was clean, bed comfortable, some tea bags, no fridge.
The restaurant, food, and staff are disappointing, the cream on my wife’s sweet was obviously off, and the waitress just smiled, shrugged, and took it away. A high proportion of the staff don’t seem to understand English properly so I think she misunderstood. We didn't order breakfast and yet was charged for it, again not sure if the receptionist understood English fully or was being bombastic. She insisted she only deduct £20 from the charge of £36 for something we didn't ask for or get?
We hadn't visited this hotel for 18 months and it has changed for the worse. I will never stay there again and feel mugged.
I'm not the sort to complain or write reviews I just hope to save someone from the same disappointment as there are so many better value Hotels in Exeter.
