Fantastic Hotel, splendid holiday.
from marihgh
The Victoria Hotel Sidmouth, class quality and outstanding cuisine. Managed by a young and outstanding team including colleagues who really want to please. A warm and relaxing venue with wonderful sea views and great amenities for all the family. A truly great traditional English family run Hotel. Can not wait till the next visit to use the outside pool and play a bit of tennis.Well done The Brend Family.
A touch of class

The Victoria Hotel in Sidmouth is by far my favourite place to stay in the world. It combines fantastic attention to detail with a team of the most courteous hotel staff I have ever come across, and that includes EVERYONE, from front of house to the porters. My first stay here was with my family having bailed out of a particularly dindgy holiday cottage. After four days of constant rain, we checked in to the Victoria a bedraggled sorry-looking group and left refreshed and utterly relaxed. If you can scrape up the cash to stay in one of...

Old Fashioned Service and Hospitality
from Travail
The Victoria is a 4 star hotel situated on the west of the Esplanade in Sidmouth. It, like Sidmouth, seems to be stuck in a 1930's time warp and this is no bad thing! The hotel sits at the bottom of a hill and commands lovely views over the bay, the cliffs to the east and the rolling Devon countryside inland. There is ample parking and from the moment you approach the hotel you are treated courtesly by the Concierge dressed in green suited tails with a top hat who welcomes you warmly to both Sidmouth and the hotel. This courteousness is...

Lovely location
from Vicci142
Nice location , but room rather small with view blocked by a rather large dressing table mirror. Bathroom had a small bath made for a midget and you tended to hit yourself on the towel rail when getting out.If you could get in! No extractor fan or window in bathroom. Shaver light broken. When we requsted more loo roll (as there was none) the response was "what! Now?" Room was sometimes serviced and sometimes not Morning paper failed to turn up on several occasions and staff were disintrsted when told. Dinning...

Hmmmm

Stayed at the Victoria in the August heat . It is beautifully presented with the non front of house staff remarkably friendly and efficient. Atmosphere at night posh -famiy-ish, comfortable and friendly. All in all a throw back to yesteryear-at a price. We wouldn't recommend the "pool suites" for adults only. They are well appointed but too far from hotel to get the same atmosphere. And the front house staff seem to regard them as an irritation. We suffered from young adults highjacking the pool in the early hours-not good for sleep. If we...

Love It
from TravellerI
I started going to the hotel with my parents when I was 8 and, for 14 years I visited at least once a year. I love it and can't wait to find an excuse to get back down there. The last time I was there in April 2004 was to celebrate my Dad's 50th birthday, there were 12 of us in the party and everyone had a great weekend. The staff are always helpful.
Guests treated like Royalty.

This was the third time that we have stayed at the Victoria, and it never fails to match expectations. From the moment one steps through the doors, the V.I.P treatment begins.Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who make visitors feel thoroughly spoiled. The atmosphere is one of unhurried luxury, the rooms are lovely, and the food superb. Highly recommended for couples who want the best, but without snooty employees, or fellow guests.
Perfect luxury
from A TripAdvisor Member
The perfect hotel to enjoy pure unadulterated luxury with every attention to detail scrupulously observed. The staff are attentive, friendly but NOT obsequious, the food sublime and beautifully presented. A two day stay may cost as much as a 5 night elsewhere but is is worth EVERY penny.
Victoria Hotel: highly recommended
from gwesty
We stayed there last October. As a family of four with young children we stayed in one of the chalet rooms adjacent to the outdoor pool. The chalet was very comfortable with a large double bedroom and sofa beds for the children in the living room. There were basic kitchen facilites too. Although few children were staying in the hotel at that time, the staff made them feel very weclome and there was no difficulty eating with them in the dining room. The food was delicious! Not the cheapest of hotels but well worth the money!
Very welcoming and excellent food
from kirstenm
We arrived at the hotel, with our two daughters, just before the start of the school holidays. The welcome we received was friendly and efficient. Our rooms were clean and comfortable but you cannot drink the water - bottled water (one bottle per day) is provided, but drink this and you will be charged for further supplies. The children felt a little out of place for the first few days as they were the only kids in the hotel. This soon changed once the holidays began. The food was lovely and the atmosphere in the dining room was...
