Marques de Sa Hotel

By saying this hotel is average I mean this in a positive way. The staff are helpful, the facilities compare very well to those available at bigger brand modern hotels (e.g. Hilton). The rooms are a good size (no turning sideways to move between bed and wardrobe for example) and the fittings plain but of sturdy design and solid quality. I just back from spending a week in Lisbon. We stayed at this hotel and had a great time. We became close to the staff, especially Joao. He is a funny, nice and an informative guy. Go to him if you have questions. The place was clean, nice and had a huge continental breakfast buffet. The food stayed the same the whole time we were there so I wish there was some more variety there. The hotel is by the Gulbenkian museum and a few minutes walk to Edward VII Park. The best feature of this basic run-of-the-mill clean hotel is its across-the-street proximity to Lisbon’s Gulbenkian museum, the grounds of which are an absolute must-visit to anyone with an interest in simple yet innovative tranquil landscaping in the midst of the city hustle. Stayed for 3 nights, and personally think is a great hotel. 1)Near Metro (5-10 minute walk.) and in a nice area. 2)Good size clean room & bathroom, in room safe for a small fee. and very comfy beds, the wardrobes even have hangers in which is useful! and Air conditioning. 3) Freindly polite & helpful staff. 4) Ample breaky including hot and cold food. We spent four nights there with my wife in the beginning of August 2006. I was not realy satisfied - but OK, it was cheap. The main points are: 1. First of all, it was terrible noisy. We stayed at the 9th floor and all the airplaines was landing just in front of our room (I attach a photo about what we saw in every second minute). We were moved to this hotel after our reserved hotel was overbooked. It is located around 10 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station and therefor not recommended for small children (who walk slowly)... Rooms are small but adequte. Our room faced the back of the hotel which was quite ugly (curtains shut most of the time). To use the safe in the room you have to pay 3Euro a day and deposit 20. Very nice hotel and very clean. We stayed there 4 nights in august . Our room was spacious and very clean, with a great bathroom. Breakfast was ok, as well. The hotel is next the S.Sebastiao Metro Station, just 5 stops from Praça Rossio.

Stayed here for 4 nights July 05. Hotel is very clean and very good value for money for a 3 star hotel. We paid 50 euros/night. Rooms were spacious. The hotel is about a 5 mins walk from Sao Sabastiao Metro where there is a huge department store which closes around 10pm daily (El Cortes Ingles) similar to Selfridges in London. We stayed at this hotel for four nights and were very happy. It is well located, modern, clean, friendly staff and you can get great prices. The Metro is a short walk away at the corner of the Corte Ingles. The area is very safe and quiet. Only down side - the coffee at breakfast was terrible.
