Just spent four nights at Durrant House courtesy of Majestic Travel - second night we were served milk sachets with dinner coffee which were 4 - 5 days beyond their expiry date. Third & fourth nights same again - now no excuse for such an error. Request to see the manager on the last night was ignored. Otherwise the hotel was very good in every way - friendly staff & tremendous value of money meals. However Maitre D was dismissive of our complaints & extremely arrogant - the word SORRY does not come into his quite extensive vocabulary ( he is Latvian)& to repeat the mistake on three night running shows a total disregard for the health of the guests

Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for two nights (JUST ASWELL!!!!) recently and were both very disappointed. We had chosen to stay in one of the more expensive rooms that they had available as we wanted to make sure that our stay was a pleasant one. Our room was supposed to be a "romantic double" which had been refurbished. At first sight the room appeared to be pleasant, however upon further inspection we found this was not the case. There are too many faults to list but here are a few....frayed carpets, exposed wires from the ceiling lights which looked like they were about to fall out of the ceiling, dented shelving unit in bathroom, toilet seat not properly attached, bathroom door would not close, manky old wardrobe and in summary of a very poor standard etc etc... After complaining to the receptionist (who was very helpful and nice) they moved us to another room. This room was a four poster bedded room which was their best room and apparently 'Honeymoon suite'! Again, looked nice when you walked in, but after looking closely, this was the same slap dash effort! Bathroom door unable to close, nowhere to plug kettle in, poorly finshed bathroom tiles, no full length mirror, no shower, stained carpets, shortage of plug points, damp in wardrobe, etc....could go on!
So, the staff....apart from the sweet lady in reception, the staff were rubbish. The old guy in the bar, very sarcastic and a bit rude, the rest couldnt even speak english which was great when the full english breakfast came out stone cold! We were told 'ah next time we do better'.
We could go on all day but in summary it appeared our rooms and the entire hotel was in desperate need of a builder that took pride in his work, and more staff!
In short....dont waste your time or money!

just had a weekend at the hotel with a coach party .all very nice hotel staff friendly but no english staff at all .only thing was not having the use of the nice resturant instead we had to use a basement facility in which we felt like being back at school and no staggered times you had to be there for 8am or else .and 7pm food was ok but never seen it served the way it was they could do with numbering the tables instead of walking up and down with food asking who wanted what very disorgenized .entertainment not worth mentioning forget it . been on a lot of coach trips and this is the first time not able to use same resturant as other guests

My sister, mum and I was on a three day coach trip. Hotel smelt damp, there was old mattresses and furniture in the hall, food horrible, swimming pool dirty. We had specificially asked to be put near each other. I was on second floor my sister/mum on ground floor. Their corridor smelt of damp whilst where I was smelt of spilt wine.
We were all kept awake at night by the sound of a generator going all night. I had a 60's tv with no remote control and the room although it had been refurbished was dark. My mum/sister had a mankey bathroom and their room was not very clean. There was no entertainment and they were quite obviously very short staffed.
I could not eat my pork and the vegetables were watery and tasteless. Others in our party sent their food back but were not offered replacements. We were also told if we did not go to breakfast/dinner on time we would not get any.
The bed was comfortable and the foreign staff were efficient but I would not go there again not even if it was free

stayed here last month, couldn't have made a worse choice, lots of noise from function room until the early hours, service rushed and shoddy, food not worth waiting for overall not an experiance to be repeated.
will go back to saunton sands next year, slightly more expensive but miles ahead in every respect.

Booked into a very pleasant hotel and welcomed by a helpful receptionist, Used the lift and was full of graffiti, hallways smelt of damp and carpets dirty, wires hanging out from all ceilings and over doorframes.
We got into room, spacious and well presented, lovely views, had a shower with a choice of either scalding hot water or ice cold water, no in between at all. We asked reception to move us, no can do originally, maintenance man tried to fix shower whilst we were out.
We were offered another room which smelt of curry and cigarette smoke, offered other room, had a large whole in the ceiling, the staff did not care in the slightest, managed to get to sleep after a party was in the function room directly below us finished at 3.30 am.
We felt every spring in the mattress, have written two letters asking for refund or comments and hotel have ignored both letters. I would rather sleep on the streets than stay at this hotel again, the 1 I have scored for this hotel is down to the breakfast being ok and that is it. Do not stay at this hotel, it is the worst in the country without a doubt and for £90 a night it’s really quite sickening.

Booked a room online two days prior to arrival, subsequently had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Requested a refund over the phone only to be met by a hostile foreign receptionist who refused a refund or a reschedule. The hotel seemed desperate for the booking fee and had no intention of offering a refund! Oh dear, not a pleasurable experience and one I would hope never to repeat.
