This has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, the rooms were very shabby and the bathroom was disgusting, mold and sanitary ware so worn and encrusted with lime scale and mould. Everywhere was covered in a layer of dust and curtains filthy. The Reception Staff were indifferent and the waiting staff just plain rude. To top it all we found out a few days later that we had been charged twice on our debit card, once by Legacy Hotels and also by The White Hart. Take a tip from us and dont book this Hotel.

When we first arrived the hotel it did'nt look to bad from the outside.
A large white victorian looking building with a large car park at the rear.
When we checked in we had booked the only four poster bed in the 31 roomed hotel.
So there we where looking around our room i tried to open a window to let the smell of damp disappear but i had to force it open because the windows were that rotton and covered in about 9 layers of chipping off paint.
We had a look in the bathroom the tiles were mouldy and the windows were the same YAK.
We didnt complain it was my birthday and we were with our friends all exited about going to the racecourse.
We went to the race course had a great day and decided to eat at the hotel as it was getting late and it was 2 for 1 bargain we thought,WRONG what a mistake me and my friend had a mixed grill medium on the steak we told them, well all the food looked as if i had been on a bush fire for a week and the egg was as runny as before it was cooked.
My wife had meatballs but they looked like they had been warmed up 5 times previous not good,my friends wife had lamb cutlets at £10.95 we thought these will be good WRONG they were that raw they had eaten all the veg.YAK
So there we were eating our meal when a gang of around 20 yobs came in fighting police were everywhere this happened on two occasions not good.
We decided to go into the village for a few drinks and wished we never had it was like village of the dambed we went in the first pud a karaoke evening so we thought good lets have some fun when we walked in the music stopped and every one turned to glare at us ( tumbleweed moment ) it was like we had 2 heads,we left our drinks and briskly left.
We went back to the hotel for a few drinks only to be told the bar closes at 23:00 and we couldnt drink after that as i am not a big drinker i didnt mind much but i thought if you were a resident the bar stays open??
Every person in the hotel is under 23 years of age and very inexperienced we later saw the chef smoking outside in his dirty whites GET GORDON RAMSEY IN there to smarten them up.
We went upstairs to bed we had never slept in a four poster bed a thought it would be something different as it was my birthday and believe you me i wish i had never had it was like sleeping on 12 sacks of king edwards.
We were tossing and turning all night the smell of the kebab house next door didnt help.
We woke and thought mmmm breakfast can't be bad WRONG we waited 20 mins for milk for our ceareal and a further 25 min for our leftover from the day before breakfast the waiter was the night manager the receptionist the chef and he didnt smell too goo either.
When we went to pay the bill gus who was taking our money yes you guessed it the waiter from breakfast.
At £70 a night room only and £4:95 each for the breakfast i expected more.
So sorry white hart i will not be returning only passing briskly.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel and the room was clean warm and well equipped. The food was good and plentiful and the staff where friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, it makes a great base from which to enjoy all that Sussex has to offer.
In the evenings we loved sitting by the open log fire and relaxing reading and chatting.

This 'Hotel' is rubbish. It's like faulty towers. Not clean, bad service, it's like by letting you stay there they are doing you a favour, oh but for £85 a night!
The rooms were small, no toiletries to speak of just an 'all in one' Hand wash, Soap, Shampoo and Conditioner, oh and it was a half used bottle. Needless to say I didn't try washing my hair with it.
There was a cigarette burn through the top bed spread, when I mentioned it to the receptionist on checking out she blankly ignored me! I couldn't believe it.
The breakfast was tired, the scrambled eggs were soaking in juice, I asked the guy behind the counter (he had a banded arm) to make me some fresh, he said "Well I could do but it would take 10 minutes" 10 Minutes for scrambled eggs!!! He was clearly trying to put me off.

The hotel is very tired and in desperate need of refurbishment, however this should not stop the hotel being clean which I believe should be a priority. We had room 56 for 3 nights.
The carpet was filthy, the pink bathroom was moldy with cracked tiles and we had one hot shower all weekend due to plumbing problems. The room was neither dusted nor hoovered all weekend. Despite our complaints nothing improved and no further rooms were available.
All staff were very friendly and service was good. The food was very acceptable. The bars have a very cozy atmosphere.
Until the hotel was thoroughly cleaned and refurbished I could not recommend anyone to stay.
