The staff are very friendly & helpful so I really didn't bother with any complaints since I was staying one night only. I had a nice view from the window and so this was a nice surprise but for £85 a night incl Breakfast there's got to be something good because parking... more

Arrived and noticed sign on desk saying renovation in progress, this had not been mentioned on the website when I booked, the scaffolding was right outside our window which could not be locked. To get to the room you have to take a lift then go up one set of steps and down... more

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. My room was right at the top of the hotel so I had about 66 steps to climb every time I wanted to go to my room (lift broken for the duration making it very awkward for the less able and those with children). However, the room was... more

Arrived Sunday evening. Receptionist not very communicative and with tendency to mumble, as she was not English this was a problem. Took tiny lift to third floor, walked up a flight of stairs and down another passing scuffed walls and stained carpet and came to our room. ... more

Not as cheap as you might think. Don't use this hotel!
I stayed in this hotel in late October 2005. I booked through expedia. The room was basic but clean. The bathroom had no light which was far from ideal, but the real problem came when I got home and found that the hotel had charged me twice for the same stay. Since complaining and repeatedly calling them, I have had no apology and they still deny the overcharge. My bank are currently pursuing the matter. Don't expect good service from this hotel. And don't book because it's cheap - it isn't once you get home!
Very poor value for money
I booked at short notice on the net, was therefore quite cheap but the single room was very small. Example problems are only one mains plug usable, the kettle and hairdryer leads only just reached it. The washbasin area was so small I kept burning my arm on towel rail which could not be switched off. The toilet seat was loose - obvious to a cleaner - and despite requests to reception it was not fixed. For a hotel of this supposed quality was disappointed that had to get out of bed to switch the only room light switch on and off, and there was no other lamp. They also charge 10p per minute for dialling 0800-type freephone numbers.
Comfortable and friendly - very good breakfast
The Best Western Hotel is a good choice among the inumerous hotels in Brighton. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. A special recommendation for the very good breakfast buffet!
Best Hotel in Brighton
I stay in hotels all over the UK. I stayed at The Brighton Hotel last night, the bedroom was spotless & service fantastic. Cant wait to go back
Brighton Hotel- The worst place in the world!
This is by far the most discusting place I have ever stayed. My room was a shoebox if anything, and as dirty as a dustbin. Mildew everywhere across the bathroom, and hairs in the bath. Toilet looked as though it hadnt been cleaned in about 30 years. Room service... Do they even know what it is? After asking the night before for a fried breakfast, and a pot of tea at 9am, I finally got a bowl of cornflakes and a glass of orange juice at 11.30am. As for the staff... They were ALL rude, abrupt and generally nasty. The only two that were of any help at all were two young girls working in the breakfast resteraunt, who quickly and efficiently did what I asked. Also the resteraunt was as close to discusting as my room. The wallpaper and the paintwork peeling off, the dirtiest windows i have ever seen, and a leakage from the ceiling. Not just a small one.. From the centre of the resterant, to the centre of the lounge a huge gush of water. This place should be shut down, it's a danger to the public!
Awful place
What a terrible place. The promise of parking spaces was a joke. Unless you get there before 9AM you'd better find a multi storey car park (you might be able to SQUEEEEEZE in your car but don't expect your car door to be dent free the next morning) I had money go missing from the room and its now three months later and still I am waiting for a resolution from the hotel. Don't expect all your breakfast to come together. I am still waiting for my coffee to be brought to my table (after asking twice) .. and that was in May 2004! Overall, very very poor. If you do complain, don't bother contacting Best Western head office - they will just forward on your complaint to the hotel. AVOID.
Overpriced and Underresourced
For the price this place really was not satisfactory. We took two bedrooms, one was extremely small, and the other was ok, but by no means big. In my recently redecorated room the wallpaper in the wardrobe was already beginning to peel off with mold. The room looked cleanish, but when I plugged in my phonecharger, it was clear that the room had only ever been given the scantiest of cleanings -- the skirting boards were covered in dust and coffee marks where people had spilled drinks. The window looked as if it hadn't been cleaned since 1978. A plug socket was loose on the wall. The lift worked only sometimes. The receptionist was surly and unwelcoming, though the manager did offer some helpful advice on restaurants. It's just a pity his staff can't do better. Not major gripes, but I was shocked considering the place was £115/night for each single - I'll never stay here again. Oh, and don't be swayed by the likelihood of a parking space - the 20 spots they claim to have is more like about 12, and you have to fight for these. Stay in a £40 guesthouse, get more friendly service £10 for parking and you've still got £65 to blow. Frankly, it's no contest. My stay was in May 2004
