Holiday Inn London Gatwick Worth

I stupidly booked this hotel without checking reviews first, and then spent the next few days panicking as it was too late to change the booking. My expectations were rock bottom but it wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The staff were fine, when we arrived and I mentioned that we'd requested a cot in our room, one member of staff went ahead to check it had been done, when it hadn't, he ensured it arrived within a minute of us entering the room. We stayed for one night meet and greet. meal in the evening not very good. Trip to airport at miday good. and the driver gave me advice on where to stand no 12 bus stop for our car to be brought to us what a joke. I rang on our return and they said it will be with you in ten mins i rang a further 6 times and they said have i walked up to the end which i had 4 times it was raining and it was midnight we had an 11 hour flight and i was mad. we waited an hour and the driver was at wrong terminal there fault, i complained... more

I arrived on 6th Feb 2007 to find a tatty and unwelcoming hotel the staff are unhelpful and the place is unorganised. I used the 'Meet and Greet' so that I could 'just land at the Airport and call them and they would bring my car to me' as they advertise on their website. I waited over an hour in the cold, then when my car did arrive it was damaged!!! This was the last thing that I needed after a long haul flight, and a long drive home ahead of me. The hotel itself is fine and check in although slow was not a problem. The rooms are basic but adequate and for £49 what do you expect. There is a problem with the transport when we arrived we were told that the minibuses back to the airport were all full and would have to wait for half an hour, so we decided to book a taxi which the hotel arranged for us and it worked out cheaper than paying the £3.00 p.p as there was six of us. If you are just wanting something cheap and a bed for the night then this hotel is for you.

We arrived at the hotel for an overnight stop before we flew out on our 2 week holiday the following morning. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the food in the restaurant is ok but overpriced. Transport to and from the hotel is a joke/discrace. You have to pay £3 each for a return transfer of which we had no problem with. We booked our seat for 5.30am the following morning and went off to bed. Got down to reception at 5.20 to be told the mini bus was full and that we'd have to wait half an hour. The hotel is in need of a make-over!! With an understaffed reception that you have to wait 15 min to check in (after a 250 mile trip) not what you want, they even started to serve another customer while we where checking in. We requested a no smoking room, So we got Room 211 which was a smoking room. We had to use the Stairs because there is no lift, with two 25kg suitcases (No porter available). Our first impressions were fine. We were expecting a bog standard business hotel and were not disappointed. Staff at reception was OK and room was quite large if bare - but so what, we were leaving early next morning. We ate in the restaurent and found the food was actually OK plus not expensive. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. We were woken up several time in the night - soundproofing was abysmal. Our thin pillows did not help. Poor, poor, poor. Room very basic and dusty, staff surly and unhelpful. We were exhausted so ate in the restaurant and for 2 adult meals, 3 childrens nuggets and chips meals and no alcohol we were ripped off about £75!!! Breakfast (2x english and 3 bowls of cereal) cost us £35ish. What a rip off. Transfers were terrible both ways, they only have 8 seats every half hour to the terminal so if you have a big family - good luck. No real problems apart from the food quality and the lack of reception staff due to a fault on the fire alarms. Best Western logos seem to have disappeared perhaps as a result of some of the reviews!

I stayed here last year on my wedding night, I had no problems staff were all very helpful. The room was lovely, great value for money
