Holiday Inn Hotel

This has to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. We arrived late afternoon on Feb 28th and our stay included 15 days parking. At the front of the hotel the entrance, drive way and surrounding grass were covered in cars; not an inch of tarmac to be seen. We drove round the back of the hotel to park, where you will find a huge carpark which has cars parked in every conceiveable space; on every piece of grass, mud and double yellow lines, from an evidently huge number of people who had gone away for a long holiday. A business group of us stayed here for 1 night as we had a flight to catch the next morning. We stayed in a standard room & it was absolutely disgusting. The door didnt close properly. The curtains were hanging off, the carpet had stains & the bathroom was awful with mold & a cracked toilet seat. I never slept at all that night & I never felt safe. You walk into a lovely reception but when you get to your room u die of shock. if u have any sense please dont stay in this awful hotel unless u also want a sleepless night.

Enjoyed a very pleasant nights stay.Room was very clean ,comfortable,& quite.Check in staff very pleasant.Car parked for 15 days and was waiting in a special area when we returned. Outstanding value for money and will definately be using again. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for an early departure and because of the reasonable internet rate. Having stayed at many HI Express before, I hoped the stay would be a comfortable restful one. Firstly, the bus there is not free - it costs 2.50 one way which is a disgrace, this being advertised as an airport hotel. When we arrived, the lobby was depressing, still in garish Christmas decoration and full of smoke. Entering our room, it felt like being in a 1970's time warp. OK, rule of thumb in my experience is don't expect much from Airport Hotels. Have stayed at quite a few and thought would try the Holiday Inn because we had a pretty good overnight in Norwich. All we wanted was a clean room, bed, room service and air con. All went wrong when we checked in, they had my reservation and I double checked that we had a smoking room to which the very friendly guy said, "Yes". I had to find a hotel at Gatwick due to a missed flight so I went to the central hotel reservation in the airport. At first they said the only rooms at the Holiday Inn were 100 Pounds per night. I knew what the rate was from the Internet since I expected that my family and I would miss the connection. After insisting that Holiday Inn's website said they had rooms at 50 Pounds per night 24 hours earlier the booking agent did find this rate. Convenient for the Airport (obviously !), but £2.5 each for the bus there ! Room large and ok. As we arrived late afternoon for the following morning flight we decided to get the train (from the airport) down to Brighton - much more fun than being stuck in the hotel bar / restaurant !

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn at Brussels and Gent in the past and it was good value, however this one in Horley is what our American friends call a Rip Off. The room was an Executive was adequate but very basic no way is this 4* standard When I arrived you park your car at the back of the hotel in a enclosed area there was no space and cars were parked all over the place on grass borders and double parked. Great Hotel. Would recommend for anyone staying overnight at Gatwick. We used to stay at the HIlton, but The Holiday is far superior in every way. Quick hassle free check, large clean modern rooms. Try the excellent restaurant you will not be disappointed. Leaving your car at thet hotel car park is a bonus, as no drag at the end of your holiday queing at Gatwick Summer Parking. Have already booked for our next overnight stay.

What can one really say, a bed, a place to eat and park the car. Good cheap place to ensure checking in for a morning flight.
