Where do I start!
Before I do start. I would just like to point out that, I'm not generally a whingy and picky person and only use this site to read reviews rather than write them myself up to now. Also up until now I have found the information on here to be very very helpful, so I hope what I write has the same sort of effect. I apologise if some of it sounds petty and really long winded to you but when most of the weekends been a let down, you start to pick up on even the slightest of things. By the way this exact copy I will be sending to the... more
terrible experience
dreadful customer service and very disappointing weekend stay wrote a letter of complaints, of which there were many, 5 weeks ago, and they havent even had the deceny to reply
Don't Try
The hotel looks promising on their web-site, but is very disappointing in real life. 1) The bedroom was not like the pictures, the neighbours were noisy until 2 a.m. 2) The bathroom was dirty around the edges, cracked bath, unstable toilet seat, noisy fan 3) The restaurant service was very amateur, the vegetables were not properly cooked, and my wife's fish was not fresh. The wine was not good. 4) The garden was littered with cigarette ends and dirt Overall we were very disappointed and will never go again.
About Right
Only stayed for one night to attend a wedding down the road at South Lodge Hotel - so we weren't in the hotel a lot. We don't often stay at this type of hotel - usually go for more budget accommodation! A bit off-putting that there was an empty used pint glass outside the door of our room on arrival (I see from previous reviews that glass collecting isn't a strong point!) - however, the room itself was very nice. It was modern and absolutely huge - even with the sofa that was in there. The bathroom was similarly massive (two sinks!).... more
Needs TLC
This hotel is seriously in need of TLC. Our room (a superior room) was OK overlooking the garden but the bathroom left a lot to be desired and the grounds which used to be a feature of this hotel were not being well looked after. The night we stayed was a Sat night and a wedding receprtion was being held. The following morning there was still an empty Guiness glass on the outside patio , and where the revellers had been drinking (near reception) no-one had seen fit to clean or dust the table. On a positive side the cuisine was excellent but... more
Great Wedding Location
We stayed here for a friends wedding in February. They had a civil ceremony followed by a reception. Although we did not attend the ceremony those that did said it was beautiful. The reception in the evening was great and the buffet was very good. Smokers note: the hall is non-smoking so you have to go into the lobby for your fix. The facilities at the hotel are also very good, the pool although small is clean and is fine for a quick swim. The bride said the facilities in the Spa were also very good and she enjoyed her facial. We... more
Great all round value
From the moment you arrive the warm welcome of the reception staff to the open fires you know your stay will be an enjoyable one. Yes, there is a new section of the hotel which resembles a Holiday Inn, but if you are looking for that then go and pay £150+ a night somewhere else. The hotel is tucked away in a West Sussex surrounded by beautiful countryside where one can picnic, ramble or have a leisurely drive. The restaurant is well spaced out and affords more privacy than the Ivy! The menu is fine for a hotel and the quality of... more
OK if you don't mind main roads
Cisswood House Hotel was nice enough -- but felt more like a motel in reality, when it looked like a country house hotel in the pictures... Staff were sweet, but the food was variable and short dinner menu didn't change over the 3-day stay. Garden pleasant tho let wild a bit -- but it was the noise of the main road nearby that spoiled sitting out. Good showers but so strong that they spun straight round in their sockets soaking everyone and everything -- hotel says it knows this is a problem...
it is not a bad value
I disagree with the previous reviewer. I've stayed at Cisswood House last July and accommodation and food were more than fine. It is not luxurious Hotel, but a normal 3 star Hotel with prices you can usually find in a 2 star so it is good value for money. I mean, where you can find these days a Hotel selling a Four Poster Room with jacuzzi and 40 square meters space and half board included at 60 pounds per person? Certainly not in London or in all the south-east of England. There were some faults, but room was clean enough. Do not expect an... more
A waste of money
Our family arrived looking forward to a luxurious weekend. No manager, staff OK, room not worth the money and not very clean, meals mediocre, poolside unhygienic. Maybe when a manager is recruited things will change.
