Great Place
This hotel had been my second choice - but after we visited the Quinta where we made reservations, we declined to stay there and went looking for a backup. The Tivoli had 2 rooms for us at a much lower cost than the Quinta and a discount for staying 2 nights - - I think it came to about 87E a night. A bargain for a room with a balcony and beautiful view. The hotel is much more charming than pictures. It has a lovely big lounge area - that I never saw anyone sit in. One problem might have been the bar at one end. A great feature -... more
get the ferreira del castro suite
I stayed here on a work conference from 14-16 Sep 05 & got put in a suite (I'm guessing by mistake!)....the room was great - absolutely massive - but other rooms I saw looked nice too, with balconies and good bathrooms, even though they were a lot smaller than mine... the buffet breakfasts and lunches were good with enough choice to please everyone. The dinner we had was disappointing though - they were catering for 80+ people, so we didn't expect the a la carte menu, but I think they could have done a bit better than the tough steak... more
Location Good, Staff rude
Location great, staff abrupt and unfriendly. Structure and rooms are nothing special.
Nothing to look at but excellent inside!
We spent 2 nights at the Tivoli Sintra during June'05. Allthough the hotel does not look like much on the outside (concrete block)it is very nice inside! The views are fantastic from rooms as well as the lounge and breakfast room. It is very central, next to the main squire and National Palace across the road. They have parking around the corner of the hotel in the basement (free), although driving around those corners are not for the fainthearted! We had a room at the back with a nice balcony, beautiful view and no noise. Rooms were clean... more
Great Location
Gay couple stayed here 1 night, July 2005. Hotel is in a terrific location across from the palace and numerous shops/cafes right outside the door. Sintra is fabulous, and the hotel is right in the midst of it. Hotel was probably built in the 60s/70s and looks it. It is clean and spacious, and pleasant. It really could use some style updating...you can imagine a designer coming in and glamming the place up and charging more than double for the same room... The cost, for the location, can't be beat. All the rooms had terraces as... more
A nice, modern and convenient hotel!
Located literally just to the side of the Sintra Palace in Sintra, the hotel is better than expected. The tourist office is just literally around the corner and you can catch the tourist bus that runs you to Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, the Toy Museum (which you can actually just walk to about two blocks away) and back again every half hour during the day for 3 EUROS. Rooms are generous in size, with a nice modern bath that features a nice, large tub and bidet. My room included a desk, large bed, dressing area with two large... more
What Great Value
We have just spent a most enjoyable four days in the Tivoli Hotel Sintra. This is the best value hotel I have stayed in for years. Clean rooms , excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. The views from this hotel are just fantastic and help make the experience relaxing and a great way to chill out for a few days. Probabaly one of the best spots to stay in Sintra with Bars and restuarants very accesible - you will need to find a bar however because the only down side to our stay was the service in the bar ! Most of the time it... more
Lovely place for a good deal
I had a wonderful time in Sintra, due in large part to the lovely Tivoli Hotel Sintra. It was easy to find, well-located (right next to the Palacio Nacional), and my room was clean, spacious, and generally delightful. I know they're in the process of adding a gym, but we didn't try it because it wasn't ready yet. The bar area in the hotel was really nice, with great views, and they have a happy hour every night with discounted drinks. There was also internet access available in the lobby, though I didn't try it out. As others have... more
Great hotel for heavy sleepers
The hotel itself is above average, it was very clean, as were the surrounding areas. The staff are helpful and polite and as already mentioned in previous reviews, the food at breakfast is exceptional in choice and quality with scenery which is stunning. The only problem I had, being a fairly light sleeper, is the clock outside the hotel which strikes on the quarter hour and then rings the hour.
Heavenly breakfast, OK rooms, excellent views.
Sintra in itself is a small gem, especially considering the beautiful, fairytail palaces. The hotel was OK, once inside. The staff in the reception could do with a smiling-class, the room could do with a little makeover, the views were nice - but the best thing of the hotel was the heavenly breakfast, in the panoramic restaurant.
