Flamingo Hotel Reviews
" My wife & I and our two sons... "
Submitted By: Mr P T Mitchell
My wife & I and our two sons stayed at the hotel Flamingo in August 2006 for 7 nights.
First impressions were good but when we were shown to our family room we were pleasantly surprised to find how nice it was.
Two large separate sleeping areas, very tastefully furnished. A/C worked well and was not noisy. The bathroom was almost luxurious with an outside whirlpool bath that was accessible from the patio or via a sliding door from the bathroom. All in all a very clean and comfortable room.
As one would expect in Italy, the hotel restaurant was excellent and the standard of food, especially dinner, was first class. Breakfast was fairly simple but delicious with a buffet that catered for most tastes. The staff were friendly and most speak English.
The hotel facilities were good and were being extended & modernised whilst we were there, however, this did not interfere with us at all. Excellent pool area which leads directly onto the fine sand beach. One small criticism is that the sea directly in front of the hotel is very rocky (probably done artificially to stop bathers getting into trouble with the boats/pedallos) but a few feet either side the bottom is sandy. Plenty of sun loungers available to guests under bamboo shades.
As with most hotels in Sardinia, drinks are a bit pricey but the fridge in our room was put to good use with quite a few supermarkets around to buy drinks/snacks. Car hire is recommended as the hotel is some way from the nearest town so if you are looking for some lively nightlife - this place is not for you.
The hotel is quite popular with families so the kids are well catered for and there is the 'Blue Fan' Waterpark quite close by. If you like a busy resort type hotel with lots of fellow Brits and your idea of Italian food is Pizza then this is not the place for you.
However, if you are looking for a little refinement in a quiet hotel with good food and a great beach holiday, you would go far to beat hotel Flamingo.

Breakfast very basic, do not bother to toast bread doesn't toast( tried putting bread through 4 times) no good. Water for drinks not hot enough waiters will be you a pot of hot water if asked.
Drinks expensive, water and lunch cheaper from the camp site across the road and good. Snacks at the hotel not good at all, expected much more choice and better quality especially (being Italy)at the prices charged very disappointed.
Very difficult to get in the sea to many stones, would have though they would clear an area. Pool area very good and clean, comfortable sun beds. Ask for beach towel at reception it is not mentioned when you arrive, though after asking a small notice is on the counter.
Our room was good, clean, towels clean every day and sheet about three time in one week, room maid every day and did an excellent job.
Concierge (Enricho) very helpful speak to him if you have any questions. Reception staff need courses in customer service, let the hotel down drastically. Staff generally could be more cheerful, end of season and it felt like they couldn't be bothered, very few staff on duty. On arrival more information needs to be given, i.e local attractions, beaches, transport, arst bus timetables, you can get a roming ticket at very reasonable prices.
Pula a nice small place but have to get a taxi after 18.45, I think the hotel could provide a shuttle later so at least you could visit other restaurants/cafes, shops close at 8.
Spa only open at weekends and expensive, dark and dismal not inviting.
Advice: Very nice for a quiet holiday restful holiday, need a car if you wan to get about easily
Activities: don't miss the beach at Chia, if you go Sunday take food and drink
Good for: Beach
