Gatwick Moat House Hotel

what a great hotel me &my husband & 2children stayed there on 11/04/06 before flying on to vegas .We had a famliy room with 8 days parking , the room was very clean and spacious considering there was 4 of us in it . We had dinner there the food was good the childrens meals was £5.00 for 3 courses and they had really big portions , the same could be said fpr breakfast there was an excellent choice of different food . If we ever fly from gatwick again we will be staying at the moathouse

Stayed now twice at this 'hotel' - I use the term hotel loosley. Had stayed last year on the night before flying off to Egypt. The 'on site car park' was full of SKY TV vans and we were given a voucher for long stay off site parking that would involve a two seperate bus journeys to get back to hotel from. Ok it was summer so grinned and accpeted it. Stayed 9/10th March,2006 as a hotel with 8 day free parking for Gatwick airport. Hotel has just been given an overhaul and was clean and bright. Bedroom was basic but comfortable for a one night stay. Food in the bar was good and reasonably priced. Checking in staff friendly and helpful and car park secure.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Gatwick Moat Hotel for 1 night on Sunday 6th November before a very early transatlantic flight. The hotel is simply an AIRPORT hotel, so really don't expect much more than this! The position of the hotel in relation to the airport is excellent - 5 minutes on a coach. We pre-paid parking for 16 nights whilst we were away however they messed this up in the booking confirmation, however, with a few phone calls the hotel evenutally admitted they were wrong and corrected it to 16 nights.<br... more

My wife and I stayed in this hotel as we had an early flight out of Gatwick. The shuttle runs to and from the airport every 30 minutes and costs £2.50 if you do not have the pre paid bus tickets (the hotel gave us tickets for the return journey) The room was reasonably clean and tidy but would require updating as some of the wallpaper was a liitle frayed. Chose the Moat House chain to stay in before our transatlantic flight in order to start our holiday in the best possible way, and because they're usually very good. BIG MISTAKE!!! The hotel was basic, tatty and our room had all the problems everyone else seems to have reported, i.e. wallpaper falling off, beds moving away from the headboard, noisy and generally grubby. We stayed there the night before our flight to Egypt. We took my inlaws and had a family room for the kids and double for them. The secure car park was anything but, and I would not have walked from the car to the reception alone at night. The rooms at first sight were very shabby. On closer inspection we noticed the wallpaper falling off the walls. We asked for another room, and at midnight my husband and I were searching for a decent room. Found the decor very poor and carpet had seen better days - beds comfortable though and telly in our room working fine. We stayed for the night before travelling to Orlando. We did find the parking convenient though and it was in a multi story car park next to hotel - parking spaces very tight though. Breakfast appalling and not included in price of room! Shuttle bus regular and kept me awake through most of the night by running engine outside room (front facing).

Makes me ashamed to be English. This place is a dump. We had 3 single beds squeezed in (family room??) The wall was the head-board & every time you moved the bed rolled away from the wall. The room was dirty & there were wires hanging out of the wall. We couldn't phone reception to complain as the phone didn't work. This was an overnight stop before flying to Florida the next day (having used Virgin's wonderful twilight check-in). Could not locate any shuttle information at Gatwick to get to the hotel, so I had to take a cab. Rooms could have been a bit cleaner. Breakfast staff polite but not prepared. Not the worst place ever, but be prepared if you stay here.
