What an amazing evening
My Partner and I along with many other family members attended our brother in laws 40th birthday party and then stayed the night. I am shocked by some of the reviews I have read. Our room was immaculate the party was fabulous and the food was outstanding. The staff were all so helpful and made all of our evening even more special. We have since been to two Christmas parties and loved every minute of it.
Refreshingly wow
We came to visit Hatfield to see our Son at the University, found the hotel online for £60.00, so our expectations were not that high. On arrival we were amazed at the quality, this was not a £60.00 hotel, the staff were efficient, friendly. Jack on the bar was the true star of the stay. Our room was imaculate, however the desk did have a chip on it. The bathroom was spotless and the heater floor was a lovely suprise in the morning. We had dinner in the restaurant which was sublime, the service immpecable, the food the best... more
Very disappointing stay
After reading all the brilliant reviews on this site I chose this hotel for myself and friend, we arrived and the guy manning reception didnt really know what was going on, but we managed to check in. Went to our room, it was small, it smelt of old smoke, it had large chips in all the veneer cabinets, the curtains were falling down, the glass shower screen was stuck (and there was mouldy residue all round the edges), the final straw was discovering a smear of blood on one of the walls!!! We asked to be moved, and the duty manager came to... more
Management response from andrew19

We were devastated to read the comments from the guests who stayed with us on the 27th November. We would always be the first to accept criticism when it is due, but did not recognise this version of events at all, nor did we recognise the hotel as it is described in this review. We have striven hard to make Beales Hotel the most stunning hotel in Hertfordshire, with a great buzz about the place, super bedrooms and fun artwork. Equally the staff are such a key part of the experience that teh comments attributed to Matthew Gundy, our respected Deputy General Manager are simply unfair and are not a reflection of events. Since this review we have invested much time and effort to upgrade our bedrooms with new coats of paint, new wallpaper, an extra person employed in the maintenance team, and an exciting planned extra floor of bedrooms this summer, along with air conditioning fitted into every bedroom. We are determined to maintain our status as the highest rated four star hotel in Herts, and the highest rated hotel on the A1 corridor between London and Yorkshire. If anyone wishes to write to me personally, I will reply immediately. I am at andrewbeale@bealeshotels.co.uk Please come and see us and judge for yourselves - mention these comments by me and get a free drink at the bar ! Andrew Beale

Lovely, but starting to age
We went to stay at this hotel for my Husband's Birthday. We've been to this hotel twice before and absolutley loved it. This hotel is lovely and contempory but we were disappointed to find that the room they first gave us stank of smoke (for a non-smoking hotel this wasn't pleasant) They then put us in another room, which had the plaster coming off the walls and the toilet smelt of urine, strongly. So, I went to receptionand they had just had a cancellation in one of their executive rooms & they put us in there. This was a wonderful room,... more
Very Enjoyable!
Stayed one Saturday night. We were attracted to hotel by its contemporary decor and competitive price. We paid £99 dbb and as the food was fabulous, the weekend was great value. We chose to pay extra £20 to upgrade to Executive room. It was still on the small side (maybe the lovely 6ft bed made it seem small!) but it was perfectly adequate and finished to a very good standard. The upgrade included a bottle of wine, fruit, water, robes and the best quantity of toiletries we have ever experienced in a 4* hotel (all the usual stuff... more
Looks better than it is.
This hotel looks the part - very modern decor with lots of art work from students at the local university - but after a few days here you realise that its beauty is only skin deep. The biggest complaint from our group was the heat. This hotel is incredibly warm and this extends to the rooms which have no air-conditioning; a major shortcoming in what is supposed to be a four star hotel. The rooms themselves were nicely decorated and have the best pillows ever! I want some. Absence of a minibar and the poor quality TV let it... more
Design great, but otherwise average
Stayed one night on business arriving late (9pm). Reception desk unmanned, but appeared within a minute or so. Booking in efficient. Room well laid out and spacious with ironing board, tea making stuff, etc., behind mirror doors. Flat screen TV and halogen lamps gave modern feel to room. Double bed comfy (for one!). Some small gripes - one of the bedside lamps didn't work, loo seat broken (but not falling off), missing bathrobe in room, internet service pay as you go Wi-Fi (T-mobile at £10/day if no contract), normal rubbish... more
Best hotel I've stayed in to date! And great value!
Got the room for £40 on a Friday night........amazing value for what we got! Flatscreen wall-mounted TV, gorgeous reception area and warm welcome, lovely room tastefully decorated in a modern style....the list goes on! Not the best location, but what else can u expect from a hotel in central Hatfield. very convenient location, WOuld definately recomment hotel to anyone!
FANTASTIC !
Ok so it is a while since I stayed here, but I do recall that this was an excellent hotel - I actually booked it through LASTMINUTE.COM and got a great deal for 2 rooms/1 night. The hotel is extremely contemporary, although as per other reviews is set amongst major roads and a shopping centre .... however, a short drive away is a trendy little town with restaurants / bars etc. The rooms are fantastic and the corridors / hallways complete with local art students creations and dimmed lighting. If there was ever a need for me to visit... more
Beales is fab
Beales is a 'designer' hotel oasis in the desert of business parks and roundabouts in unromantic Hatfield Hertfordshire. The building itself is brand new, and everything inside is minimalist and trendy without being pretentiously so as in many city centre hotels in more fashionable locations. The place is also an art gallery showing stunning pieces from local artists and students. Rooms are well sized and are stylishly and well equipped. The weekend rates are amazing value and it's therefore worth making a slight trek on the A1 if you're... more
