Express By Holiday Inn Hotel

Stayed in room 409 for only 1 night to attend a football match at Wembley. To be honest we were not expecting alot for what we paid but were very surprised as the hotel was lovely. We got this room at a rate of £49 but had we been able to give 1 week notice it would have only cost us £39. Check in/out went very smoothly and we had a room overlooking the car park. We have used this hotel on a few occasions and always been delighted. The setting is excellent near the canal with working boats and locks. We booked in August for a stay in October so we got a good rate of £39.00 per night and booked 2 rooms. When I got my credit card bill we had been charged for 3 rooms. I have spent the last 6 weeks trying to get my money back with not so much as a reply. We stayed in a family room, friday 5th October, as we were visiting friends nearby. I booked though the website and got a bargain £39 room rate including continental breakfast. The hotel is clean and comfortable, staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was nicely furnished and everything was in good working order, we were only there for the night, there were a couple of restaurants and a pub within a few minutes walk. This is a good clean Holiday Inn Express which I stay in quite a bit. It is a 4 minute walk to the nearest railway staion, Apsley, with a suburban rail link to London Euston (30 mins). The M1 motorway is a 10 minute drive away too, off peak. The car park does get full but there is an overflow car park further along. Be aware that some of the basement rooms can suffer a little from noise from the bar, if you go to bed early and are sensitive to such. The quiet rooms are on a higher level.

Clean and comfortable. Not many facilities, but that's reflected in the price. If its simple B&B you're after - this is good value. The surroundings were much better than I was expecting, with a canal lock nearby and a restaurant and cafe just a short walk away. Pleasantly surprised.

Excellent hospitality and staff, aware of any problems arising, which were remedied without delay...truly made to feel welcome by all the staff encountered, from the almost instant checkin, to the speedy checkout...with some good barfood and drinks in between. Felt better after the stay. 2 nights, than before.

Have stayed here three times in 2006, for between 1 and 4 nights. The hotel is well kept and the three rooms I stayed in were all clean, with all appliances working fine. Staff at reception were always helpful and polite, but I did notice on my second stay that checking in after booking though Holiday Inn's 'Pritority Club', was much quicker, as they already had my details. I think I got quieter rooms on my second and third stays, (I don't know if that's policy though). Food in the bar isn't great for the price, much better... more

The running of this hotel is a shambles! The rooms are fine - the usual hol inn express rooms, comfy, clean. But that's the positives over. I booked two rooms and asked for an early check in and both rooms to be together. They had no record of the email even though they had replied to it. In fact, couldn't even meet their own check in time of 2pm as "we are busy". When told one room was eventually ready, we went to it to find in fact it hadn't been cleaned. I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express Hotel a number of times now (although not over a bank holiday) and have found it to be good value for money. It is a relatively new property and is in good decorative order. Cleaniness is of a good standard. It is a basic, functional hotel.

Further to my previous review; Following our formal letter of complaint to the Manager of this hotel,we received an immediate phone call of apology and a gracious,prompt and professional letter which included a full refund.We are therefore,prepared to give them another try.
