Myconian Ambassador Hotel & Thalasso Spa Center

I love this hotel. It's a good quality hotel on a small Greek Island and at Mykonos prices! I'm not sure what some travellers on this board expect when they go to Greece? You simply shouldn't expect 5 star accommodation on a Greek Island to be the same as a 5 star hotel in NY or London! So expectations need to be set. The pool area is great. After reading other reviews on this hotel I was slightly nervous about what to expect when I arrived, however I had no need to be. My partner and I have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and the Ambassador didnt disappoint. The welcome and helpfulness of the staff was second to none from the moment we arrived. We were picked up at the airport in Mykonos by the van from the Mykonian Collection. We winded through the narrow roads of Mykonos and finally arrived at our hotel. The lobby area of this hotel is fantastic. The décor is very chic with white leather couches and glass tables. We asked for an upgrade due to our honeymoon status. It's odd how some reviews can be so completely in conflict with each other. It seems there are some reviews of this place that are 5star, and some that are awful. I belong in the latter group. Our experience here was just terrible and we couldn't wait to leave. Other than the pool (which was wonderful) and the food (which was delicious but ridiculously expensive), the hotel is not worth recommending at all. My friend and I had a reservation at the Royal Myconian, a sister hotel to the Myconian Amabassador, as part of an air/hotel Greek Islands package. The Royal Myconian is at Elia Beach, looked amazing on the website and a friend who stayed there last year raved about it. We went here for the first half of our honeymoon and debated whether or not to cancel our second half and just stay on here! I am a chef and I was truly pleased with all of the food. That is rare, especially when travelling. The location was perfect, the people were very sweet, between the front desk, and housekeeping, we felt very satisfied. The views are UNBELIEVABLE! We had no complaints.

My husband and I stayed here in early June of 2005. I honestly wish we would have paid more and stayed somewhere that was truly a luxury hotel. I don't get this. The constant reviews for this hotel and the others in its group are always fantastic but this is not what we found when we lodged there last August. Excellent hotel. Rooms are very clean. Food is available in large qauntity and the quality is great, during breakfast and dinner. The staff is very helpful. Price/quality=excellent.
