Excellent hotel!
I recently stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, and have to say that it is one of the best places I have stayed in a long time!!! Check-in took no time at all, and we were given an executive room with a balcony. The room was immaculate, and cleanliness of a particularly high standard. Floorspace was exceedingly generous, and as well as a desk, tv cabinet and tea-making space, there was also a lounge area with tables and two sofas, a separate mirrored hair/make-up annex, and a large wardrobe. The bathroom boasted both bath and shower,... more
Not very impressed with this hotel
I was lucky enough to accompany my husband on his recent business trip to England. We stayed for two weeks at the Holiday Inn in Milton Keynes just across from the gigantic shopping center. On the plus side for this hotel is definitely the location. We were just steps away from tons of shops and restaurants. On the downside was definitely the hotel staff's attitude. Each time we approached the reception desk we were treated as if we were interrupting. We received curt answers to questions and gave up calling the front desk because no... more
Good accommodation overall
Check in - Staff were lacklustre but efficient with us, as check in took only around 5 minutes. We were given directions to our room with no problems. Room - Very nice quality, clean, and modern. Nice wooden Japanese type sliding doors to pull across the window instead of curtains (great if you want a nice lay-in!) Very soft and comfy beds with a "pillow menu" for those with preferences for anti-allergy or feather down type pillows (just place your order with the reception apparently). Iron and ironing board only available upon... more
Executive rooms certainly worth it
Apart from a few problems at check-in - certainly not helped by finding that reception staff were not at the front desk but chatting round the back! - I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from the standard room I'd paid for to an Executive room. This was a bonus indeed! Rooms a very good size - see photo! - and bathroom contained both a full size bath and shower. Agree there weren't many amenities in the room but bed was comfortable and the newly refurbished feel (complete with things like a full size kettle instead of the usual small... more
disappointed!!!
A group of us stayed here when we went to see Miss Saigon, fantastic show! but was disappointed with the room. My boyfriend and I had booked the Deluxe room, as the name would suggest Deluxe.....but it was far from it, friends whom we had gone with had booked a standard room which turned out to be a bigger and better room. The only thing Deluxe about our room was the toiletries (Neutrogena) if you would call that Deluxe and the room was decorated with warmer colours than the rest. The breakfast was ok, and the staff were friendly. If you do... more
Good in parts
4 of us were staying. Good rooms. Breakfast was OK but at £14.95 plus 10% service charge it should be. Reception is friendly but not very efficient. 3 out of the 4 of us were charged for two breakfasts each, this was removed after protest. Took 40 minutes for the 4 of us to checkout. Reception cannot store luggage. The walk in rate is £150 per night excluding breakfast. We paid £52 having booked on the Holiday Inn web site. Handy location directly across the road from the shopping centre and 400 yards from the SnowDome.
Very nice
Having stayed at the Hilton down the road the week before, I was looking forward to something better and was not dissapointed. The standard of the hotel is very good with approachable and helpful staff with a really good attitude to the customer. The food was good and the quality of the rooms was excellent for the price paid. Sure it is not 5 star but for a "business class" hotel, this is one of the better ones. If you must stay in MK then avoid the Hilton and stay here for the same money. It's a whole different world.
Excellent Refurbished Rooms!
I've stayed at the Holiday Inn twice in the last couple of months and will definitely be going back. All the public areas have been redesigned and about half of the rooms have been renovated and are stunning considering the very reasonable rates (I've not paid more than £50 per room yet), full air-con and good modern fixtures and fittings come as standard. The non-refurbished rooms are very tired and desperately need redoing, but the hotel knows this and are onto it! When you check in ask the staff for a refurbished room, the staff... more
