Metropotitan Hotel

I was on a business trip for 3 days and spent two nights at this abismal hotel! I was with some colleagues and we all had rooms next to eachother. My room had blood stains on the carpet and the carpet was in a generally filthy condition! My colleague had blood stains on her bed which i think is absolutely disgraceful! We were somewhat disappointed with our stay at the Metropolitan. We had read reviews from the trip advisor & must say we agree with most comments. The staff in the dining area were rude on some occassions and we had to ask to get served. We saw many people walk away without being served.The rooms were clean but needed refurb. We stayed there for 4 nights & twice we had to ring for an extra towel as they only supplied one towel(for a double room). So we decided to spend 8 nights at the Metropolitan Hotel in Athens, Greece. Actually, the hotel is in a suburb called Paleo Faliro. As can be expected from a 5-star hotel, accommodations and service fit the bill. Altough I must say the prices in the minibar were outrageous: 5 Euro for a candy bar! Fortunately there is a supermarket nearby, as well as a kiosk around the corner. The breakfast buffet at 24 Euro seemed a bit pricey. This hotel is for business ! Conveniently located close to marinas and highways but far from touristic interests. Cool little 'tabernaes' in the vicinity (try the modest but very good 'to Dydymo' one block north of the hotel!). The Metropolitan is used buy cruise passengers and groups but also by Thai Airline crews wich is a good sign usually! Service is ok! Rooms are average, bathroom are nice with good toiletry products ! Be aware to use the 'do not disturb' sign at anytime and to avoid the -very- expensive minibar unless you can't do... more
