A very disappointing room for £90. It was situated in the courtyard; however there was a wedding reception in full swing that was literally going on right outside the door to our room. The room was so small that the bathroom had a sliding door as the room was not big... more

We stayed for 1 night at my sister's wedding, so I am biased towards the hotel as it holds memories of a happy event! It's very olde worlde, lots of nooks and crannies and sloping staircases. Food at the reception was lovely, the bar staff helpful and would have served all... more

excellent 5 star food
stayed in this hotel for 4 weeks from monday to friday. i have seen many rooms which all differ in size, the best were the ones next to the courtyard or the ones to the rear near the car park (these are upstairs). I had a room to myself with double bed with adequate room and there is a quaint old english pub to the front (with pub food but didn't try any) but i did eat in the restaurant and i have been right through the menu and everything was absolutely excellent, try the lamb cutlets if they still do them "amazing" and have the... more
Give it a miss
Stayed at the Cock Hotel for 3 nights from the 10th of April on a £65 a night buisness rate. I was allocated room 18 on arrival. The room was of a fair size and bed clean and comfortable. The main shochk was the stench in the room or drains / sewage. When I complained to the hotel of this problem I was informed that there was no spare rooms. I had dinner and quite a few drinks and returned to my room arond 22.30. I awoke around 23.45 with the stench being stronger and after complaining again was moved to room 15. This room also... more
Awful and shabby
We stayed at the Cock Hotel for one night at the end of March 07. The reception staff were terrible, although I had to wander round and find someone first to check-in. The room was very shabby and grubby, although the bedding was clean. The standard of cleaning in the bathroon was very poor with ingrained dirt on a ledge. The bath panel also fell off, revealing lots of mess. No information on check-out times, breakfast times was given or contained in the room. Breakfast on Sunday was also a poor affair, with two waitresses... more
Good with a few minor complaints
It's a lovely looking hotel both inside and ourside. the interior decor is classy old fashioned but not chintzy. Like a "Living Rooms" or All Bar One style. It's centuries old, so the floorboards creak, the floors are sloping, corridors are small. It's got thin walls too and noise can travel - so take ear plugs if you want a good sleep. The bar & restaurant was very nice, good food and nice selection of beers. Stony Stratford is lovely too. lots of nice pubs and restuarants to visit. A lively local music scene too,... more
Could be so much better!
Given that I had got a reduced business rate I got more or less what I expected.Check In was a bit painful due to the speed - or lack of it but they were very polite. By the time I had carried by suitcase, laptop and suitbag up two flights of stairs to my room I was ready for a rest! The bed was remarkably comfortable and after the street noise died down I slept well. The bathroom had been renovated but there was a leak on the radiator and I could only get a luke warm shower in the morning. I guess to sum up it was a clean... more
Don't sleep in
Stopped here as visiting MK bowl for a concert. Found it OK on nice quite busy High Street. Checked in OK, booked room for 3 so ended up with double and pull out sofa bed. Room was nice, decor all OK with modern TV/DVD player, kettle etc. Only issue was being late (!) for breakfast. It was served 7-9am in function room but on arrival at 8.50am there was no empty tables so had to stand and wait for people to finish & leave. We then pushed on to a table full of dirty pots as staff were sorting breakfast goods out not the tables. We got the last... more
TERRIBLE!
From the outside the hotel looks lovely - its an old coaching inn and has a large car park. Its close to Milton Keynes - which was important as we were going to a concert. It was also very expensive due to the concert (the manager admitted the room fees had increased dramatically due to the concert) and wasn't worth even half of the fee. On arriving at the hotel we were allocated room 11 which was at the top of the hotel over looking the High Street. The room was lovely but with a major problem, I required a twin room and whilst this... more
Very very hot room
Nice old inn but it's very very warm in the current heat wave, take a fan with you, I had a room at the top of the hotel, felt like 30 degrees centigrade, tried to have a cold shower but could not get the temperature below scalding......no fans available, avoid in the middle of summer......
Absolutely first class - highly recommended!
Excellent! We had our wedding reception here and also stayed for a long weekend and were thoroughly impressed. The hotel was renovated in April and rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Staff are polite, very friendly and extremely professional. The food is absolutely exquisite, whether you are after a three course dinner or a simple lunch in the bar. There is a lovely outdoor courtyard with lots of plants and flowers where you can enjoy the sunshine. The hotel seems to run like clockwork, we experienced no hitches or... more
Stony Stratford 2 nights Cock Hotel wish I had not.
After working and travelling all day I was looking forward to a relaxing evening. first impressions from the outside were good. But that did not last long. The room was generally shabby the carpet didn't look as if it had been hoovered properly for some time with a thick dust build up around the edges of the carpet. - It has to be admitted this was attended to promptly after speaking to reception. The furniture was tired, the wardrobe had various items of bedding in it so that clothes would not hang properly. The kettle lead was hanging in... more
