Best Western Elysium Design Hotel

Stayed at this great little hotel the first week in September for 5 days. Rooms were small (normal by European standards) but very clean and fairly well sound-insulated. The breakfast area in the rooftop was also very enjoyable. Definitely a good place for the money compared to similar hotels in the area. Omonia Square area is so-so but we never felt un-safe. We stayed at the Elysium Design for 3 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. Our room was stylish and comfortable - those who have complained about the small rooms should recognize that hotel rooms in Europe are not the same as those in the US - we didn't find the room size unusual. Be careful of official hotel sites offering a "lowest rate guarantee". In my case I booked a room with Best Western Hotels at a rate of 95 Euros per night. They guarantee their rate to be the lowest. Should you find a lower rate at a another site the undertake to meet that rate and give a further 10% discount. I found an all inclusive rate of 72Euros for the same hotel and dates at octopustravel. I've stayed at this hotel twice in the last couple of years. It's convenient for transport - 5 mins to Omonia Sq. for travel to the airport, Piraeus or the city; and is only 15 mins walk from all the major tourist areas of town. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean, and the staff are enormously friendly and helpful. The hotel facilities are limited (there's no bar or even lobby) but if you're looking for a friendly, central place you'll not find much better for €50 for a double room including breakfast.
