" I have just returned from the marina... "

I have just returned from the marina suites and must say the rooms were spacious and very clean the only thing is it's not suitable for four adults as the sofa bed is only three quarter size and my sister who slept on it said you would be fighting over the duvet all night, also when you use it as a setee in the day it tends to push you off as it tilts to the front even when you take the duvet off. The beds in the bedroom though are a very good size. It could do with a shelf in the shower to put your shampoo on etc as you have to bend down to the floor all the time or hold what you are using in one hand whilst washing your hair with the other. I didn't think there was enough communal areas inside the hotel only a small bar with mostly bar stools and a few whicker chairs, no lounge area to relax, considering there are over two hundred rooms. The pool was excellent, the only problem was you were packed in like sardines and weren't able to move around, for this reason after the first day we went on the beach. We were half board so on the first evening went down to the dining room but was told that you ate in the breakfast area. The only times we ate downstairs were when they thought it might rain, and that was when we went upstairs and found it all closed up. I thought the choice was very limited considering it is a four star hotel, but then there wasn't a lot of room either upstairs or down to accommodate this. The position of the hotel is one of the best in resort, relaxing on the balcony which is a very good size, watching the boats go out. The beds on the beach were 3 euros and parasol 2.5. The beach one side of Puerto Rico, Amadores, was nice(crushed coral) around 3-4 euros depending on how fast the taxi driver drove and on the other side Anfi about 4 euros, sand brought in from the caribean, so am told, is a more upmarket place and very nice. Mogan harbour was lovely and we went there on the boat, 10 euros, with a sangria there and back and a heart shaped lolly. Overall the holiday was good but I think this hotel should be marked as a 3 star accommodation considering my remarks on food and downstairs lack of space.

" Just returned from a 2 week stay at... "

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Marina Suites was very impressed with the decor of the place rooms were big and stylish although for 3 adults there isnt much space to put your clothes infinity pool was unusual but the pool area was a nightmare too many beds squashed together.Breakfast was worth the money plenty of choice and wasnt busy although the staff could have been a bit more friendly.Word of warning dont hang your towels over the balcony u get a phonecall from reception telling u off which was a surprise seeing as there was no room elsewhere to dry them.Hotels location was nice seeing as peurto rico accomodation is all in the hills although it is a good 20 min walk into the centre.Could not fault the cleanliness it was spotless maids came everyday and we had clean towels everyday but they do knock early so best to put out do not disturb sign.Overall if your looking for a relaxing holiday in peurto rico without having to walk up hundreds of stairs in a very clean stylish hotel and dont mind having to abide by many rules (no hanging towels on balcony,no balls in pool,no lilos,no sitting on the side of the pool etc) then this is the place for you.Would definatly stay there again as we love peurto rico.

" We have just returned from the Marina... "

We have just returned from the Marina Suites and it was excellent accomodation, the rooms were really clean and did have a contemporary feel, we arrived at 2.30am and there was water in the fridge for us and the beds were ready for the children.

The pool area was a little cramped but had outstanding views, you had to get there early for the sunbeds but it was worth it and yes people were reserving them for the day which usually goes against all my principles but I came to the conclusion if you cant beat them join them, I was there at 7am in a queue but we had a good laugh waiting for the doors to open and then it was run for your spot, however we only reserved beds for the adults some people had beds for their children who were always in the pool that was just ridiculous, overall there were sufficient amounts of sunbeds. Everybody felt the same about the situation but I do not blame the hotel for this problem. There was a lifeguard all day and they continually tested the water and cleaned the pool area, in fact cleanliness was a huge deal, every morning you had maid service who even did the dishes and made pretty things out of my pjs. (strange but nice)

Location was perfect, easy walk to all local restaurants and supermarkets, no uphill struggles like some parts. I personally did not like the commercial centre itself but we ate at Cafe Central and watched Elvis and the Tango restaurant near the mini golf behind Macdonalds and they were both good. I preferred the restaurants near the beach, El Greco and La Cantina were both excellent. The staff in most bars and restaurants were lovely and friendly. Avoid the tat shops with camera salesmen and the soveniers at the commercial centre were cheapest.

Last day was hard as we had a nightflight and had to check out at 12pm, and there were 4 other flights leaving the same day, reception was hectic. But I always found the staff helpful and friendly. We only had 15 mins in room for a shower but worth it and make sure you book your slot early.

I would definitly go back to the Marina Suites and would recommend it to others, its only 35 mins from the airport not an hour like it states in the brochures.

" The cleanliness of the hotel... "

The cleanliness of the hotel generally and rooms was very good. The infinity pool was great but trying to get a sunbed by the pool was very difficult. If you went to the pool after 07.30 you would not get a bed as they were all covered in towels.
The holiday went well until the last day when we had a few too many problems. The checkout time is ridiculous if on a night flight, as you have 12 hrs plus to hang around. we tried for a late checkout but was told that no rooms were available as the hotel was full. However, our room was vacated at 12.00 but not cleaned until late afternoon/early evening so why couldn't we have stayed in our room longer ?
The one courtesy room you get the use of for a shower is not enough. We, a family of 3, were given 15 mins use of the room to get a shower, dry and change - total not each. After 12 mins i had a phone call from reception telling me to vacate the room straight away as my time was up, when i explained that i would need to put clothes on first the receptionist told me that i needed to be out NOW. On our day of departure there were 4 flights all going out fairly close together so every one needed the courtesy room. Generally the staff were friendly but one or two of them were quite rude at times.

The other problem encountered was we had to pay for our evening meal on the day of departure. At no time during the booking or during the holiday were we told that we would have to pay for out last meal. The explanation given was that we were provided with a meal on our arrival day. We actually arrived in the room at 2.30am and went straight to bed. We found the meal they were on about later that day, it consisted of fruit, yoghurt and a tub of chicken and rice. This is not my idea of a welcome meal at 2.30 in the morning.

" These apartments are the ultimate... "

These apartments are the ultimate luxury. They are spacious and clean and well designed to fit even up to 5 people. The staff are friendly. The pool is stunning. it is built into the cliffs overlooking the sea. elevators to every floor and daily entertainment. the bar is very reasonable and has a very relaxing atmosphere.

located in the marina of puerto rico. 5 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from the centre. these apartments are the ultimate holiday destination. i have been to puerto rico 7 times including this year where i stayed somewhere dreadful.

i will never stay anywhere but the marina suites in future.

" Myself and partner visited Puerto... "

Myself and partner visited Puerto Rico last April for the second time and we stayed in the marina suites. We had a super time there. The hotel is first class, staff are friendly and it is very clean. We didnt come to puerto rico for hotel entertainment as we had been to the island 6 months earlier and we loved the night life in the centre, that would be my only fault with the hotel that there is no entertainment it did not bother us though, but i can understand why some people could be disapointed with this especially families. We are going back to the marina suites next week and we know that we will have an equal good time as we did last year.It is hard to match such a lovely hotel,it is a little expensive but in life you pay for what you get and the marina suites is a class hotel.

" Myself, my husband and my 2 children... "

Myself, my husband and my 2 children aged 7 & 4 stayed at the marina suites in september 2007 and wow what a hotel. The rooms were spotlessly clean, staff were good and the swimming pool was fantastic. I read some bad reviews about the marina suites before we went and got worried about what it would be like, but i needn't have, its a great hotel in a great location. We've been to other places in the past but nowhere as good as the marina suites or puerto rico. We enjoyed our holiday that much we've booked to go back again september this year.

" My husband and I have just returned... "

My husband and I have just returned from Puerto Rico where we stayed at the MARINA SUITES.
We had booked this accommodation as we have been very unhappy with past appartments booked through Thomsons.
We were NOT dissapointed, our 'suite' was on the 1st floor overlooking the Marina and the view was fantastic. The whole appartment was large, bright, well decorated and very clean. The bed was huge and comfortable and we could not fault anything.
Breakfast was taken outside by the pool area overlooking the sea and was first class, everything you could wish for was there. The pool was great but our ONLY complaint was the sun bed hogs who sprinted out of the main hotel at 8am (when the pool area was opened) on the dot, every day, to lay towels on particular sunbeds, not just one bed but sometimes five or six at a time!
NO they were not German but ENGLISH. We were disgusted at their actions as they almost mowed down other people making their way to breakfast. This is something that should be addressed by the Hotel as it is totally unacceptable.
That aside this Hotel would be suitable for everyone from tiny children to the elderly and gets a 10 out of 10 from us. Hope to revisit again in the future.

" We have just returned from a weeks... "

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Marina Suites and whilst the brochure says sea, pool or marina view if you are allocated rooms 101 to 108 you will have a view or some palm trees and no more.
These rooms are on the same level as the pool and therefore have a terrace. Between the terrace and the pool sunbeds is a channel of water and then palm trees about 6 foot high.
At that is your view - at over £1000 with First Choice we were very dissapointed.
Other comments made about the fabulous pool, the clean and well equiped accommodation, the high quality of the food and very realistic ~ but if you want to be able to sit quietly on your balcony and read a book enjoying the sun make sure you don't get allocated rooms 101 to 108.

" Recently returned from a holiday at... "

Recently returned from a holiday at Marine suite apartments, could not fault location, pool area, cleanliness, reps at first choice were fantastic.
I would forfeit all the above for a decent breakfast and a friendly face, I would never ever go to the marina ever again I have never seen such poor quality breakfast in a four star accomodation, I found the staff to be so rude even to the point of being ignorant.
The table tennis is situated right next to the breakfast area, instead of relaxing while you eat you were watching the ball as it kept flying past the table.
A bit of background music would have been a nice idea to break the deadly silence.
No atmoshere in the bar at night a bit of entertainment would be a good idea.
Value for money was shocking. On our departure whilst waiting for the bus every person was complaing about the attitudes of the staff and the poor quality of the breakfast.
First holiday I have lost weight at.

" Marina Suite is a fantastic... "

Marina Suite is a fantastic apartments, with everything you would possible need. The staff a polite and always willing to help. It is very clean and the food is fantastic.

Unfortunately we were booked into this hotel for 2 weeks but the hotel had over booked and we were put in the hotel at the side. We had use of the facilities which nearly made up for the disappointment of not staying in the hotel.

This seemed to be a common occurrence while we were there.

" We really enjoyed our stay at this... "

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel itself was clean and very modern. A luxury hotel that overlooks a marina. The best thing I found about this hotel was the infinity pool.

You could swim to the edge and see the sea. Very wow! The room was very spacious and clean, excellent decor and nice kitchenette. We had a sea view room that was spectacular.

The hotel has its own restaurants and bars but we didn’t eat there. We went to the local towns restaurants and bars; there were plenty to choose from.

A great price for a really relaxing holiday, great pool and whirlpools, and weather!
