Ibis Portsmouth Centre Hotel

Luckily we had only one night in this very sub-standard Ibis Hotel. The reception staff are disinterested, we were checked-in to a room that had not yet been cleaned so had to start the check-in process again, and when we asked for extra pillows they never materialized. The room was very small, and the bathroom was even smaller, almost impossible to get out of the shower while the door is shut. We have enjoyed our stay in Ibis Hotels all over Europe but this one lets the team down.

This hotel was amazing! On arrival I was told I had no room despite having a comfirmation number. Eventually I sorted a bed and the price of my room was £83 but 'Ivan of Ibis' suggested I hand over £90..........why?.........just incase! Confused? So was I! This has to be one of the worst Hotels I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. I confirmed my booking over the phone received my confirmation number only to arrive and be told they could not find my booking. The staff were rude and did not speak very good English. As for the rooms the bathroom has a clear window with no curtain and viewable to all outside, also it was probably the smallest bathroom in the world. spent the weekend at the ibis portsmouth have stayed at a few ibis hotels across europe and have to say this was the smallest room i have stayed in but it was very clean with a very very comfortable bed the breakfast was poor to say the least the worst i have seen so much so on the second morning we went to the local wetherspoons for breakfast [just by the guild hall] they open at 9 for a full english breakfast , toast and coffee for less money than the ibis but overall it was not a bad stay nice bar area pleasant enough... more

Cheap but cheerful. You get what you pay for. Comfortable bed, in reasonable sized room. Don't rate the breakfast but overall if want a cheap nights accomodation, then this is reasonable and central to ferries, naval base and centre of town.

We have stayed here before and found it fine for the money,the secure carpark is vital,but I do object to paying £5 per night,this time there was room upgrade building work going on right next to our room which was VERY noisey,reception said "well we put signs up" after a slightly heated discussion I got my room changed,OK I understand that this work must happen but I think that they should have closed the whole corridor on that floor,when we got the room it was VERY small with a TINY bathroom,at night it was very noisey--doors slaming and... more

This hotel is very well situated, only 5 minutes walk from portsmouth and southsea train station and reasonably priced. Inside it is clean and has a good bar and resturant open till gone midnight. I was staying there as i was seeing a band at the guildhall in portsmouth and it is only a two minute walk from the hotel, you are also less than ten minutes away from the seafront or shops depending which way you walk. The hotel staff are extremly friendly and helpful, and the rooms spacious, the only downside was a very small bathroom.

I've read a lot of bad reviews for this hotel. Ibis is a two star hotel chain and this is what you get. If you want luxury you will need to pay more than £55 a night for a double room in the city centre. I've stayed in a few Ibis hotels and this one has the smallest bathroom I've ever come across but the hotel room is fine, (there are two pillows, the second is on the top of the wardrobe) the shower is powerful and the location in the city centre is great.
