Ibis Edinburgh Centre Hotel

This is a very basic hotel. The rooms are rather small and furnishing are few. There was a television and the room was clean. The Location is fantastic just a few meters off the Royal Mile and easy access to some great Pubs, sights, and shopping. Breakfast was rather spartan by British standards, just the normal continental breakfast of France or Germany. If you are on a budget this place can't be beat.

The rooms are very small, very basic, in need of a good clean and some repair work . The hotel is quite expensive for the quality however its location is ideal. Staff however were very friendly.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in October 2006, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent, however the blankets on the bed were stained and dirty and needed to be changed or at the very least washed! Rooms are small and basic and typical IBIS style, we didn't eat the breakfast which is overpriced, you'll find better and cheaper in any cafe nearby. Spend the money you save on accomodation in the Witchery restaurant near the castle, it's the most fab romantic restaurant ever!

My son and I recently stayed here the First week of Oct. 2006. The location is excellent cental to everything and less then 5 minutes to the Castle. Our room was small but clean. Staff was very friendly and even looked up some tours for us. My son left his wallet on the table at breakfast when we returned that evening the staff had taken the wallet and locked it up, (not sure that would have happend in the states).. The hotel is right in the heart of Edinburgh, walking distance from anywhere worth walking to. Our room was of good size, clean, well equipped, nothing at all to complain about except maybe bathroom door hinges that made horrible screeching sounds. The location and price of the Ibis in Edinburgh make it a real bargain. The room we had was large and clean, but the bed was not comfortable. We don't spend much time in our room, but if you like to fall into a comfortable bed after a day of walking, this is not the hotel for you. It was easily within walking distance of the train, and set at the heart of the Royal Mile. The location of this hotel cannot be beaten - right on the historic Royal Mile leading up to Edinburgh Castle. The rooms are what you'd expect - standard, but clean and reasonably well appointed for the price. Avoid the hotel breakfast and go to a nearyby cafe and sample the excellent vegetarian breakfast. Definitely recommend this one to the budget traveller.

We stayed at this hotel because of its location - right off the Royal Mile, which is the only reason I rated it a 2 instead of a 1. This hotel is perfect if you don't plan on actually sleeping or spending any time in the room. The room was pretty bad - holes in the curtains, bad mattress, smelly, etc. I was 6 months pregnant and requested a couple more pillows to prop myself up. My husband and I stayed at the Ibis for three nights in May 2006. We chose the Ibis for it's location and value and we weren't disappointed. Located just off of the Royal Mile, the Ibis is within walking distance to all city centre attractions. Room was clean and comfortable, just what I expected from an Ibis.
