One piece of advice....stay away!
We have tried the place twice and have been appalled both times.
For what they charge you expect perfection and they get nowhere close to this.
Grounds are nice, so best to stay outside as long as you can!

Wonderful place
I went to a wedding at Tylney Hall and booked a room to stay over with my husband. As soon as the lady heard that I was the sister of the bride, she said she would see if she could arrange for a room upgrade, which sounded great. True to her word, when the confirmation came through we had indeed been upgraded. The food at the wedding was fantastic, and although there was a mix up with the rooms luckilly it was only with family and dealt with quickly. Breakfast the following morning was nice and the staff were very friendly -... more
Just Excellent!
My husband took me for a Birthday surprise 2 night stay at Tylney Hall in June. As you turn onto the drive you approach the very grand front of the Hall. I was initially worried it may be a little stuffy but this was not the case. The reception staff were very welcoming and concierge shows you to your room whilst explaining all the facilities available during your stay. Our room was large and comfortable and overlooked the Water garden. I really can't write enough about the gardens - they are wonderful and there's something for... more
Outstanding!
My husband and I went to a wedding at Tylney Hall over Easter and stayed two nights. At all times the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room overlooking the courtyard which was immaculate and very well apportioned. The grounds of the hotel are outstanding and in exceptionally good order. The outside pool was as warm as a bath. During our stay we ordered breakfast in our room and managed to mess up the order, when we queried it they must have run from the kitchens back to our room with a new breakfast and... more
Don't believe everything you read
We booked a weekend away at Tilney after having a lovely dinner there in January. We stayed with friends for their birthday and had a lovely time. The best things about this hotel are the amazing public areas, particularly the loungue with the log fires, and the restaurant. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing over our weekend, and we thought the food was stylish and well presented. We loved the buffet english breakfast, so the men could have as many sausages as they wanted and I could just have a plate of mushrooms to satisfy a craving.... more
Romantic, intimate, luxurious
I have to say a few words here on this hotel, my husband and I have visted it a number of occasions over the past few years and have never had a problem with the service the attire or the food. We have been welcomed as soon as enter the reception area by friendly and attentive staff, which is not something I can say for every hotel I have been too, and had our luggage (Weekend bag if that) carried straight to our room. The rooms themselves are not modern in terms of decor, but that is the wehole point. This is a grand, romantic hotel... more
Complete Let Down
My husband and I went for a romantic break for 2 nights to the Tylney Hall Hotel, and the room was very dissapointing, given the rate we paid! The wallpaper was peeling in the main bedroom, the tele was old, and although they say sattelite tele you get sky 1 and thats it, every other channel was fuzzy and unwatchable. The room also stank of smoke, although we did ask for a non-smoking room. The bathroom had mould in every corner. The grouting around the bath and sink was black and needed updating, and generally felt very dirty.<br... more
Great Setting, clean but rooms are not sound proof.
Hotel is set very nicely and the service is ok. Quality of food in restaurant average and cost are on the high end at min £40 (3 Courses excl. drinks). Rooms are clean but beware they are noisy. If the person in the room next to you has an alarm go off or watches TV you will hear everything and thus be prepared to watch the same channel as the person in the room next to you. (Fortunately, you only have 10 to choose from). Pool is decent and gym is small but has what you need to get a workout in. If you are a light sleeper go to a different... more
Wonderful
Wow what an amazing stay. From start to finish we were treated like royalty! The greeting from reception and concierge was excellent and made us feel most welcome. We were then further impressed with a complimentary upgrade. Throughout our stay the staff were friendly and always attentive often anticipating our needs. The grounds and hotel itself are beautiful. We will be back!
Woeful!
Nice setting and really lovely grounds but the appaling service at this place should be enough to encourage anyone to go elsewhere. I was put in a room which reminded me of my grandmothers house 20 years ago, faded stained carpet and tacky 1960s lounges. My 5 requests for an iron were ignored and after trying to phone reception for 20 mins (no answer) I approached the duty manager and was told that since the hotel was full it was really not his fault but they didn't have any irons and what did I want him to do about it, talk about... more
Not what it's cracked up to be
We stayed here through the hotel's Club - this kept the price down to around £120, so I'm basing my review on what we paid. I stayed on a Sunday night to avoid competing with wedding parties. Let's confirm what's excellent about Tylney Hall. The exterior and the public rooms are stunning. It has a decent gym, indoor/outdoor pools, fabulous grounds, and a golf course (if that's your thing). The service was generally great, and certainly better than any of the four-star hotels I use on business. But there are problems. The room we... more
