After I booked this holiday, I foolishly started researching online reviews and found many negative ones....regarding poor service, poor cleanliness, shabby rooms etc. It was too late to change so ahead we went on our holiday...dreading it. I have to say that not one of... more

We booked the hotel thru virgin holidays. We arrived at the hotel on the 5th Jan for 2 weeks. We had to get a taxi from the airport which was like $78! But check in was quick. We were in room 109, right opposite the shuttle bus stop. The room was nice. Only wanted it to... more

Enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. More like a motel than hotel. Set over a large area with 2 storey blocks, the rooms have no patios or balconies just an outside corridor. The complex has 3 swimming pools which were kept very well, along with the poolside areas. The... more

Asked to pay resort fee of $49 on arrival to cover daily paper, local calls and room safe. Never received paper, safes were already in the room did not need to pay for it only made a couple of calls. So don’t pay resort fee pay your calls it’s cheaper. The maid attended... more

I booked this holiday - which included flights car-hire and accommodation through this company I saw advertised on Teletext. The price seemed excellent - brochure prices with high-street tour operators were more than double the price. Due to the time of year... more

GOTTA LOVE THE VALUE AND CONVENIENCE!
My friend and I traveled to Florida in mid-July and stayed at the LaQuinta Lakeside. A definite bargain at $30/night, we found this hotel to fit almost every need. The shuttles left several times a day and were free to all local parks! Nice convenience for someone without a rental car. The room provided much needed cool A/C to cool off the 90 degree air and leave us refreshed. The breakfast buffet had average food at a very cheap price. The lounge/restaurant and pool were also a plus although the pool should be open later then 10pm for us night-people. SEVERAL close by things to do including a cool mini-golf course only a short walk away. Also several good restaurants within a short walk. While it wasn't the nicest, fanciest hotel I had ever stayed in, it was definately worth the money and would gladly stay there again.
This hotel needs work.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel/motel on Nov.1 and checked out the next day. The hotel looks nothing like it does on the web site. The carpet in the room is badly stained in many locations. The air conditioner was extemely dirty inside and produced foul smelling cold air. The breakfast buffet wasn't fit for prison inmates not to mention the smell in the restaurant area. While attempting to eat the breakfast a large mutiple legged insect landed on our table. The pool was colder than a Minnesota lake in January. The fitness center did not exist. The hotel shuttles to the theme parks only pick up once a day from the hotel and the parks. At best this hotel is an overpriced motel that needs alot of work.
a bit tired and shabby
The Virgin brochure made this hotel look a lot better than it turned out. The rooms needed refurbishment, carpets stained and only a curtain separated the bedroom from bathroom. Air conditioning very noisy. Facilities, pool etc quite good. We stayed for a week in September 2003. Next time we would pay a little more to get a better quality hotel.
we had a great time
The hotel looked exactly as it did in the virgin brochure, the pool outside our room was very clean we used it every day! The staff were freindly and very polite, we watched the pool being cleaned daily with four kids you have to be a bit more paticular but for a budget holiday it was worth every penny. The mini golf was free all the time we were there and was a typical concrete based mini golf set in the grounds. we did get bitten by mosies but we cannot blame the hotel for that. The breakfast buffet was fresh and eggs were cooked to your liking by the chef in front of you. kids ate free with the adults which was an extra bonus, hurrican sams bar also gave free meals for kids another bonus. We did not think much of the buses used for the free transport to the parks and shopping malls bit tatty, in fact some of them would not be allowed on the road in England but in America it seems acceptable. Our view was as a budget holiday it was great, Walt Disney World it is not but then neither was prices!
Pretty Crappy
Let me just say that this hotel is NOTHING at all like the pictures on the internet or the brochure. I know most of the time you're in Florida you're going to be at the parks but when you get back to your hotel room to sleep, watch out! The rooms are grungy, dirty & just plain disgusting. The floor of the bath tub was so dirty we had to put a towel in it in order to take a shower. I was not able to walk barefoot on the carpet since it looked so dirty as well. (Lets not even get into about how uncomfortable I felt sleeping on the bed) We were about to change hotels but my boyfriend talked me out of it since we were only there for a couple of days. The "miniture" golf they show in the pictures is pretty much just some dead grass with little holes in it. The have some kind of swamp thing going on behind the wanna-be restaurant that just seems to attract alot of bugs and mosquitos. The breakfast buffet they offer is TERRIBLE! Eggs taste like mush. Even the coffee was bad! The pool is pretty dirty as well. Do NOT stay in this hotel unless you're really broke & desperate!
This one's a keeper.
This was a terrific value. I live 90 minutes from Orlando & in the past 15 year have stayed at dozens of hotels in Orlando/Kissimmee area, from budget to upscale spa on Disney grounds. I have outgrown the budget-type motel & want to be comfortable in pleasant surroundings, but still not spend a lot if it's not necessary. The rooms were very clean & spacious & pleasant decor. The pools were nice, as was the tiki bar near the pool. The breakfast buffet was excellent. & kids eat free with a paying adult. I was able to get a fantastic rate for this hotel so it really was a steal (under $30) I would stay here again without hesitation.
Not too bad a choice
For hotels in this category it was good. The appointments in the room were tasteful and it was very seviceable. The location was also good. The drawbacks were the noise factor. We could really hear the next room and outside. The AC was so incredibly noisy it did a good job of covering up other noises. We were there because of a travel package we won (that was a lie) as it was a timeshare (the NEW timeshare that they try to convince you is not timeshare but it is) promotion. We will never fall for that again! Of the hotels offered in the package this was a good choice.
Take it like your last resource
We stayed there in mid june and booked it thru expedia. The room was stinky and so the carpet. The whole room was smelling bad. The bathroom ...nice surprise to have someone else hair in the tub. We had to call the maintenance twice to get the bathroom fixed. And it isn't nice , after a day at Disney to go back to the hotel and find the room undone. And it isn't nice to have pizza in the hotel restaurant and find in it some hair and then to be charged like nothing happened. Avoid it for now. The hotel needs some big work.
Excellent value
I had read many of the views here before we went, and was very apprehensive. But my worries were unfounded. For a reasonably priced hotel, it was excellent. We had a good room overlooking the swimming pool. The room was very clean, and was cleaned and restocked with towels, coffee etc daily. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was excellent and good value. The pool and paths were kept clean, and the gardens kept in great condition. The passages leading to rooms were a bit dark and gloomy, and it does have the feel of a motel rather than a hotel, but for the price and range, we could not fault it. Ideally situated for Disney, and for restaurants and shops. Definitely recommended, but do ask for a lake or pool view to get the better situated rooms.
Friendly Hotel, Great Value
Having stayed here last year when it was the Sheraton I was not sure what to expect with the change of onwership however I was plesantly surprised. The room was spotless, additional wardrobes have been installed since last year and the overall renovation programme has now been completed. Pools nice and warm with the cabanas open until quite late (after 10:00pm on the 4th July) and good food available from Pizza Hut, Huricane Sams Bar (limited menu) or the Deli (very good value) and good breakfast available on site. Overall a very plesant place to stay, I have allready booked to stay here agin next year!
