IT'S ALL GOOD

After I booked this holiday, I foolishly started researching online reviews and found many negative ones....regarding poor service, poor cleanliness, shabby rooms etc. It was too late to change so ahead we went on our holiday...dreading it. I have to say that not one of the reports I read was true in our case - the staff were agreeable and extremely helpful, the room was simple but clean and chambermaids changed sheets and left clean towels daily - the air conditioning was noisy but effective....with temperatures of 98 degrees daily we were just glad to be cooled down and slept like logs! The site was a little dated ( I reckon from the 70's) but perfectly nice, as were the pools which were never crowded and extremely peaceful - heated in the evenings although the external temp never dropped below 80 degrees! The restaurants at the main hotel reception were reasonably priced with good food and good sized portions. The all you can eat breakfasts set us up for the day and children 12 and under ate free so it was a bargain for those with small children. Only an hour after arriving, I had to ask reception for more pillows and hangers - they arrived seconds after we returned to our room. Yes we were asked to pay a $3.50 'daily incidental' fee, which I could see no earthly reason for, apart from making a 'little extra' out of the guests. We paid it all the same, no quibbles, at the end of our holiday - we had had a wonderful time, had been well treated and had no complaints....$50 or £35 for 2 weeks seemed insignificant to us - we were just relieved to have had a great holiday after reading such appalling and completely unjustified reviews. The reason I only give 9 out of 10 instead of 10 out of 10 is because the vanity area outside the small bathroom was not curtained off for privacy and we had to buy a shower curtain and pin it across the open archway, so when we alighted from the bathroom we had somewhere to get dried, powdered and dressed in dignity.....I had gone with my daughter and male friend - it was necessary. After buying the shower curtain we were happy as larks.

We booked the hotel thru virgin holidays. We arrived at the hotel on the 5th Jan for 2 weeks. We had to get a taxi from the airport which was like $78! But check in was quick. We were in room 109, right opposite the shuttle bus stop.
The room was nice. Only wanted it to sleep in. Had 2 double beds, tv, a good size bathroom. Free internet which was handy and fast. Didnt see any bugs at all in the room. Room was cleaned everyday. Towels changed everyday and bedding. Had a nice good size safe which fitted my laptop inside.
Had breakfast in the hotel a few times. It was ok. $8.99+tax. Hurricane sams bar was brill. Richard is the nicest person in the world. Made us feel so welcome. The onsite pizza hut was ok. cisi's pizza was great! $5.99 for all you can eat buffet of pizza, pasta, salad and pudding. If you wanted a takeaway pizza it was $3.99 instead of paying $15 in pizza hut at the hotel.
We never went to the virgin welcome meeting. We only found out from next door that virgin customers get a free daily mail paper everyday and they get a meal voucher for somewhere in citywalk in universal.
The shuttle buses to the park were good. There was one driver who liked the lion king, he was brilliant and lovely. The Universal and seaworld bus picked us up at 7:45am and then to take us back home at 6pm....was a long day! And when the park was not busy at all we had finished everything by 2pm!
Would stay here again....hopefully coming back feb 2010

Enjoyed our stay at the Best Western....

Enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. More like a motel than hotel.
Set over a large area with 2 storey blocks, the rooms have no patios or balconies just an outside corridor.
The complex has 3 swimming pools which were kept very well, along with the poolside areas.
The rooms were also of a good standard, cleaned every day. They consisted of 2 rather small double beds, cable tv, small, but more than adequate bathroom, good size fridge. And good size safe. Ironing board, hairdryer.
So all in all well equipped. Wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again.

Asked to pay resort fee of $49 on...

Asked to pay resort fee of $49 on arrival to cover daily paper, local calls and room safe. Never received paper, safes were already in the room did not need to pay for it only made a couple of calls. So don’t pay resort fee pay your calls it’s cheaper.
The maid attended to our rooms when she felt like it but spent most of the time watching the TV, about 9 out of the 14 days my wife had to make the beds and clean the room not the holiday she expected.
The other guests were mostly American (expected) but they were arrogant and over loud. When trying to teach the babies to swim they just kept bombing in the pool scaring the kids, when asked to stop just received abuse from the parents on 1 occasion escalating to confrontation with a 6`7 20 stone American.
Most of the games in the games room did not work for the 2 weeks we stayed although they did fix 3/4 of them 2 days before we came home not bad 12 days with only a couple of machines working.
Although hotel was reasonably priced very over rated for what they offer on there website. Best bit the pitchers of beer in the bar and pizzas from the shop.

I booked this holiday - which...

I booked this holiday - which included flights car-hire and accommodation through this company I saw advertised on Teletext. The price seemed excellent - brochure prices with high-street tour operators were more than double the price.
Due to the time of year (Christmas/New Year) I chose an indirect flight, stopping at Chicago and then on to Orlando. It was a little tiring having to come off a 9 hour flight only to have to change and then a further 2 hour flight before reaching our destination, however, with an option of an indirect flight or paying double I chose the former! I took my family which included my 21 yr old daughter, her partner, and my 10 year-old son. We experienced a problem with both flights - both inbound and outbound in that we were allocated seating in different parts of the plane - even my son was sitting away from me which I wasn't pleased about.
The hotel was excellent value. The rating was 3 star but the facilities offered - 3 pools, children’s pool, games room, guest laundry room, mini golf course, bar, pool-side bar, deli / shop and lovely views across the adjacent lake - and excellent in-room facilities - far surpassed my experience of other 3 star hotels I have stayed at.
The accommodation was excellent value for money. Overall I must say that for the price I paid, this holiday far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose this travel company again, but I think I would opt for a different airline next time!

Nov 2005, Mr K Pollard

Reasonable price - operator attempted to change hotel after booking.
Paid extra for pre booked seats - initially not available close together when we arrived at Manchester.
Flight great (Atlanta Europe). Hotel ok but charged resort fee extra
Travel city refunded extra charges. Altogether a reasonable economy holiday no frills.
