Sep 2007, Mr P Scott

I had been told about the Rival by a number of people that I know.
Surely, no hotel is 'as good as that'... well... this is certainly different to that Rule.
My stay was utter, pure, unadulterated luxury... Fabulous.
Being February it was somewhat cold, but with the snowfall on the first evening, it was truly magical.
My room overlooked the square, which I ventured out on the first evening. Plenty of good food is found nearby and just short walk.
I got some superb photographs on both the evening and the following day, when I ventured out... be warned though, it was VERY VERY cold.
It’s great for the tourist. The staff know the area very well, and are always more than willing to help in any which way they can.
The design of the rooms is excellent. A great boutique style, modern but not cold feeling.
A teddy bear on a seat to welcome you. Being able to watch TV from the bath, through the very thoughtful window/wall was a great touch after a cold day walking, to soak.
Great bedding, contemporary artwork... I just loved it.
Overall, the price was very reasonable and worth every mark of a 10/10.... When can I go back!

Stockholm is a wonderful city...
10 / 10
Nov 2005, Miss K  Owen

Stockholm is a wonderful city surrounded by water and crowded with cobbled stone roads. I went for my first time in November and although the weather was dreadful once we arrived at the hotel it didn't matter as we were shown the cosiest room I've ever had.
The Hotel Rival isn't completely central to the old part of Stockholm but it can be reached with a 15minute brisk walk which is probably needed if you've been tucking into any of the local delicacies. Staff are very friendly and the quality of the rooms is excellent.
There are many great viewpoints in Stockholm where you get a magnificent view of the city. Bars are open until late, and drinks tend to be a little more then in England but not as much as I had heard. Make sure you ask for a 10 ticket booklet if using the T-bana as otherwise you end up spending loads each time you travel 2 stops, for £2 a go. The Ice Museum is a scaled down recreation of the ice hotel 200 kilometres away.
It's fun in it's uniqueness, but not as big as you would imagine at all. Stockholm is perfect for a weekend and close enough too, but unique enough to give you a refreshing break away from home.
