Hampshire Centrecourt Hotel Reviews

Nov 2007, Miss L W

Very nice hotel close to shops, supermarket, petrol station, and bus stop. The town centre is 20 mins away by bus or 10 mins by car. The rooms including their ensuite facilities are of a very good standard. The hotel holds weddings and other parties i.e. 70s disco on Fri.... more

Good Fitness Facilities
I am a member of the Leisure club at this Hotel but stayed here for two weeks when moving. It is a typical business hotel but with excellent leisure facilities as it was originally owned by a tennis fan, with classes most evenings which are popular with ladies. It has recently been taken over by Q hotels and is improving, the old rooms are now almost all refurbished and they have applied for planning permission to extend and improve the leisure facilities which are great for a hotel but a little bit tired. The room I stayed in was very tidy and well decorated Some good pubs nearby, try the Crown or Hatch in Old Basing which are about a mile away. It very easy to get to from the A33 so ideal if you want a stop off on the way to the south coast or ferry’s at Portsmouth. Prior to selling Marstons were very tight hence the problems which are gradually getting sorted out (gradually)
2 Star Masquerading As a 4 Star
Just finished a three day break at the hampshire court and waht a bad experience. problems with the meal the first night, lukewarm pltes and food and broken toaster at breakfast the next morning. no hot water the next morning as the bolier was having problems ,was advised to shave and shower in the health club but when getting there they had no hot water either. so bad that we asked to m,ove to a different hotel the next day. after completing the three day break now in need of a holiday to recover from the experience
be aware
whatever you do, do not book this hotel. the service was terrible nobody knew what they were doing. We were told a breakfast was included and when we got there we were told breakfast was not included. the worst part was at check out they told my mom her card had been declined for the three hundred pounds we owed for our two night stay so they charged my dad's credit card when we left for the three hundred pounds. when we got back to canada we realized they charged my dad's card and also charged my moms card for two thousand pounds. we tried calling the hotel to sort this out and no one can help us. so our two night stay at this crap hotel cost us two thousand three hundred pounds. let this be a warning to others.
No problems for me!
I was a little concerned having read the previous reviews. But the room was fine - good shower and separate bath. Coffee/tea facilities (but no Hot Chocolate). They charge extra for everything: cheaper hotels include newspapers, but not here. Breakfast was included in my rate, otherwise seems expensive at £15. Cooked breakfast was hot - was that because I arrive 15 minutes after they started? Bar is cr*p as per most hotels, but plenty of good pubs a short taxi-ride away -there food is more interesting too. Leisure facilities looked good - but didn't have a chance to try on this stay.
this is not a 4* hotel
The service at reception, the bar and restaurant were awful with no one appearing to know what they are doing. The 'hot' food at breakfast was cold and when we complained we were ignored and no apology was given. We even had to set the table ourselves because we waited so long! Also for a 4* hotel that is quite pricey the food should be of reasonable standard, I asked if the eggs were free-range and the chef didn't know (probably not then!). In addition the rooms are old, our sink leaked, the taps were falling off, the shower changed temperature and there was mould on the walls. I am sick of staying in places that make you feel you have been ripped off. I was one of three people at reception complaining about the service and conditions, we were all ignored and not one apology. DON'T STAY HERE.
It is supposedly a 4* hotel
We stayed 2 nights for a wedding as the reception was in the hotel. It is supposedly a 4* hotel, probably because it has a leisure club with various facilities, most of which were not usable during our stay. The room was dated & in desperate need of updating - peeling wallpaper & 3 cracks in the basin. The non-smoking rooms appear to have the worst view, i.e. Tesco car park! The smoking rooms look out onto the central tennis court & have balconies. The restaurant prices are exhorbitant: £16,95 for 2 tiny lamb chops, & the bar prices at the wedding reception were unbelievable - £32 for 2 bottles of very average wine. On the plus side, the staff were courteous & helpful. It has just been taken over by Q Hotels, so hopefully they will improve what could be a reasonable hotel. By the way, it's very difficult to find, tucked away behind the Chineham commercial centre & Tesco.
ok for a girlie weekend
Went there for a girlie spa weekend for a friends 50th. The rooms were ok but no minibar. One of the pools was out of order and as the spa so any aqua classes were cancelled. Directions were confusing as there were many roadworks around the hotel. The massage treatments were in rooms partitioned by screens hence feeling like being in A & E but most consultants were professional. The food was good in the restaurant and the bistro but drinks are very expensive. The Spa weekends are very much geared towards girlie weekends & the treatments & classes are abundant if they are not cancelled. Overall was an ok weekend but have been to better, however the cost wasn't bad value for money if all facilities were open.
One of the better hotels in Basingstoke
I stayed here with a colleague for 5 nights in Feb 2007. We were attending a training course at ICS Solutions, Basingstoke. Overall the hotel was very good, especially compared to the Basingstoke Hilton and Holiday Inn (which were pretty dreadfull). Upsides: Gym + pool, Nice big rooms, decent bathrooms + seperate shower. Downsides: Pricey drinks, strange loud noise coming from the unit behind the toilet everytime it was flushed, occasional musty smells. A couple of slight niggles were that the toast was always stone cold however rest of breakfast was generally good. The restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere but the steaks we had were great but not cheap! You need a car to get round but a taxi is only a fiver to Festival place.
Not a bod hotel
The hotel is of a high standard. The rooms have not been refurbished for a while but they are of an acceptable standard. The Gym and Pool are very good. The only bad thing is the fact that the TV channels are very limited. Normal 5 channels plus a few sky sport channels and my biggest disappointment is the £3 per hour for the internet ( if it even works in your room ). I don’t understand why the hotels don’t see that if customers don’t get their net access cheap or free that they find a hotel that does have it next time.
I've stayed in better Travel Inns.
I booked this hotel for our anniversary. The main reason was the facilities and the restaurant. I tried to book a table for dinner on Monday and Tuesday but was told that when we turned up on Saturday that it'd be fine to do it then. Upon arrival, I was told that the restaurant was fully booked for huge parties. They tried to encourage us to use the bistro instead - this is like something out of the Crossroads motel so it wasn't really suitable. We had to get a taxi into Basingstoke instead. The gym is good and I did have a good massage but everything else was sub standard. I've honestly stayed in swankier Travel Inns. When booking I was asked for specific dietary requirements - vegetarian and non dairy. We were given milk and all butter biscuits and breakfast was awful. Beans and cold toast. Shabby and overpriced. The restaurant has won awards but I think I'd book a table but stay elsewhere.
