Only if you can't get in anywhere else
from sianiblew
We are regular travellers to Cardiff and often choose the Park Plaza (ace hotel) but this time due to the football at the millennium stadium we were forced to book else where....else where being the Ibis, Cardiff central. On arrival, the hotel looks nice and is conveniently located. (Later finding out that you have to walk around the nearby roadworks to get in to town). As other posters have mentioned, parking is a problem, we ended up using the NCP pay and display (£11 a day)....as I couldn't understand the directions given from the...

Great in every way
from HoHumAnotherTrip
Stayed here 5 times, following a bad experience elsewhere in Cardiff. A good, unpretentious hotel - clean, with attentive staff, a good breakfast and comfortable rooms. I'd much rather stay at a basic hotel that does things right that somewhere that strives to go upmarket without succeeding! Last time I was there the air conditioning in the bedroom didn't work, but that was my only small gripe.
Quite Impressed Really...!
from CheekyDeeDee
We stayed for 5 nights & our flight to Cardiff was delayed so we arrived at the hotel in a very bad mood at 2am but the French staff were extremely friendly & sorted us out with our room immediately, as they could see that we were really tired from travelling! When we walked into the room we were both pleased to see that everything was tidy & clean & that the room was quite pleasant & suitable for a couple. I was happy to see that there was a small kettle & a little basket next to it with tea bags, coffee satchets (decaf & the fully loaded...

Car Park What Car Park.
from CeriMay
Found it very difficult to park no spaces on the back street where I had been advised to park. Room clean but basic. No hairdryer. Noisy in cafe.Breakfast very basic.
girls on a mad weekend!
from IrishLadies
Its very centrally located which is the greatest thing about the Ibis - all the major attractions are within walking distance. The room was clean, and of a fairly good size. The bathroom in the room reminded us of an aeroplane toilet - just with a shower, not much room for movement - especially when two girls are trying to get ready to go out clubbing - though there was a good full length mirror - which comes in handy!!!! There was only one pillow in the room - dont know what that was about, but reception provided another one when...

very thin walls!!
from mangojess
By the sounds of it the people in the next room had a better stay!!! Apart from the thin walls it was ok - parking wasnt great and breakfast just wasnt worth the extra money!
Good Hotel for the money
from Mueller
Good Ibis standard, centrally located, friendly staff. My room was quiet. I would stay there again.
Terrible!!
from HHRH
We found the Ibis to be terrible! First of all, we could hardly get our bags in the revolving door on a trolley and the staff were slow to help us with the alternative door. Our room was basic but not clean. There was blood on the floor in the bathroom and hairs on the floor. Our bed had only one pillow!! Correction: our room only had one pillow!! And this appears to be standard practice as our two lots of friends travelling with us had the same thing. We had a pokey, tiny little window and the hotel is next to railway...

Basic Room- Very thin Walls and next to a busy railway line.
from A TripAdvisor Member
This is a nice enough hotel but pretty basic - the room was good value but this comes at a price, the competitive price for a weekend also seemed to attract the booze tourist. Myself and my partner seemed to be the only guests who didn't arrive back in the hotel after 2am drunk and singing. The rooms have very thin walls and you can hear pretty much everything so if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday night do not expect a good nights sleep - I think this would make a good hotel for a mid week business trip but for a get away weekend...

The hotel lacks parking facilities, other than parking vouchers which they sell for £1.20 and are utterly useless unless you are lucky to find space on the nearby tiny side streets!! The room itself was tiny, the bed very uncomfortable, made of a mattress stacked on a... more
