Ibis Cardiff Gate Hotel

The rooms are ok, but the service is far from friendly. It is also during weekend very difficult to reach by foot. From the bus endstation, you have to cross the roundabout, walk left (along the highway) and follow a hiking path (it starts next to the highway, you cross some fences and have even to cross an open field). After field walk up a dead end street to reach the gas-station of pont prennau. Good luck ! :)

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as everything else in Cardiff was booked due to the cricket match. The hotel room was really dirty. The bed sheets were ripped. The shower had hair from previous guests in the room.

Well just returned from a night at the Ibis Cardiff Gate which I managed to get a double room for £39 (book on IBIS website) and what a bargain. Nice modern rooms, very good LCD tv's, great large shower all in all very good and a very nice nights sleep. The only one downfall was that as the hotel is situated at Cardiff Gate Services at approx 1130-0030 at night the local young drivers seem to come and go in the next door car park and insist on playing the music in their cars soooo loud that they could hear it across the Severn... more

Where do I start? The window was broken, internet did not work, the soap dispenser was empty and the bed was one of them with the matress all sagged that I ended up with a sprain in my neck and my back. We were moved to another room and the window was broken again! Then we were moved to a third room and the soap dispenser was broken. This was the first time we had stayed in an Ibis Hotel. It was what we expected for the price, basic . The young lady at reception was polite and helpful. The room was reasonable until we went to get into bed. Even at £42 you expect a clean bed. This one was wet- yes a large wet patch. The young lady again was helpful and changed the room. Have stayed here three times over the last two years. Great value, clean and comfortable. Exceptionally helpful staff. Will stay there again.

We stopped there with two dogs. it was booked last minute (the night before!!). we checked in early which is a bonus if you have a busy day ahead. It was not what I was expecting, the rooms were fairly small especially with two dogs but it was very clean and the bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom!!!
