Ibis Carlisle Hotel

Stayed here over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (Sun & Mon) and there was a huge difference between the two nights. The hotel is on a very busy road with lots of pubs and Sunday night was horrendously busy with bank Holiday revellers. Not a major problem but the hotel was quite noisy, double glazing cuts down on the street noise but doesn't eliminate it. Monday night was lovely and quiet by contrast. I stayed in the Ibis for one night on easter monday. I was satisfied. The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly. And the hotel is located in the center of Carlisle.

My party of four stayed just the one night after watching a football match. Carlisle overall, and the staff in general were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is no trouble to find, it is clean, modern and tidy. Just as a new Ibis hotel should be. The room was fine, breakfast the normal Ibis fare, again fine.

This is a very convenient hotel well located for the nightlife Carlisle has to offer. Parking is free but be prepared to wait for more than a while until someone leaves, then swoop into there space before someone else does, a bit of a nightmare at times. The typical guest here is not of the quiet persuasion and more than likely not T Total! Rooms are adeqaute and comfortable but cleanliness is obviously not their forte. On the plus side, it's cheap and cheerful. It's in a great location smack in the centre of Carlisle. Rooms are simple, but adequately furnished and bathrooms are excellent. Ample parking. Very friendly reception staff. There is a very good Chinese restaurant right next door. Negatives included noise from the street outdoors and some rowdy guests running up and down the hallway. Buffet breakfast very mediocre for the price.

What a great hotel - newly built, fresh, bright and friendly right in the middle of the city centre with easy access and good parking arrangements. The rooms are modern, clean and sylish. Superb bathroom, favourite bit was the shower. Two saloon type doors from the bathroom lead into a huge shower room with cambered floor and a power shower to rival none. Could have spent hours in there. Better than many 5-star hotel bathrooms I've stayed in. Great location next to all the main bars and minutes away from shopping and restaurants. Why stay... more

As these places go it was ok, room fine. Strange toilet/shower affair, but it was new and did the job fine. Cafe-type eatery, clean & efficient. Have to fight for spaces in the car park, which is large but shared with a bingo hall.

We stayed in the Ibis Carlisle in the summer of 2003, and altogether it was a pleasant experience. It's a budget 2-star-hotel (33 Pounds a night for a double room), rooms are clean, of medium size and the interior is quite basic, but new. Altogether it has the feel of an economy hotel, but considering the low price, this didn't bother us. The hotel is located in the centre of Carlisle which enabled us to explore this nice historic town on foot. We didn't sample the breakfast - the breakfast area had a bit of a snack-bar atmosphere to it.... more
