Novotel Plymouth Hotel

I would strongly advise anyone thinking of staying in the Novotel in plymouth to think again. When I opened the door to the room it smelled of urine and on top of that it was dirty and the eletrical fittings were hanging off the walls. When you pay for a budget hotel like this I still expect basic but clean is definately an important issue which I have had no problems at other hotel chains in the same price bracket. This Novotel is below the brand's average... Though very well located close to highways and quite direct to the city centre, this hotel is not what I expected from Accor's middle range hotels I am used to... Rooms are furbished at the brand's standards but toilets can not be flushed correctly, bathroom taps and bathtub are not at the standard ! Service and welcome is cold and impersonnal, though - at the restaurant - some efforts are done ! The lounge and restaurant are nicely furbished but the food is not quite at the required quality... more

Had to stay in Plymouth visiting friends for a wedding and we were recommended the Novotel Plymouth as close to the reception hall. We have to say that we found the hotel to be excellent, with very friendly staff and good value for money, we would certainly recommend the hotel to all our friends and family.

I think that the manager must have made the last post... who else points out the "human touch" other than a gentleman about to lose his job due to bad reviews??? I stayed here just before christmas to propose to my girlfriend and as it was so bad she refused to marry me... The room was filthy and the staff were totally unattentive when i complained. Very easy to find hotel with ample free parking creating a hassle free start to my stay. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast/restaurant is extremely flexible open from 6 am until midnight! with a friendly service and a feeling of the human touch. the playstation and movie entertainments were an added benefit to my stay.

I had thought that Novotel were decent and worth a few quid extra over the other chains. However, this is easily the worst hotel that I have ever visited in Britain and the first ever to move me to fill in a complaint form. I can't fit all the problems in here, but I'll give you a brief sample... surly staff, truly ugly exterior, located out of town right beside A38 flyover, both toilet & bathroom door wouldn't shut, toilet seat misaligned to toilet (!), £10 each for breakfast, pay tv has no safeguard against children seeing hardcore... more
