Daskalos Apartments

We just got back from Daskalos Apartments, summer 2011 and has a FANTASTIC TIME! We were a bit wary as quite cheap but we were so wrong to be!
The place is amazing for the money. Apartments are basic but there's daily cleaners, towells, air con (45 euro/week)bath, shower, kitchen, balcony and they're clean so everyhting you want really. I highly reccomend air con as it works really well and you might want a break from the heat. The hotel is run by a lovely family including George who is 18ish and he'll be your go to guy for anything but the whole family is genuinely lovely! They have a fab pool, sun beds, wifi and do fantastic freshly made food and also loads of drinks (get George to make alcoholic milkshakes!)
They are truly lovely and really happy to help whether it be with food, looking after our luggage, extra pillows etc.
Our friend fainted when she was there by herself and they looked after her, got her to the doctors, cooked her food, made her drinks and then wouldn't let her pay for them after! They also spent the rest of the week concerned about how she was - so lovely!
The complex literally opens out onto the beach (its quite nice but if you dont mind a 15 minute walk theres a WAY nicer one with white sands etc round the other side of the island) and less then 5 minutes away are supermarkets and the beginning of the strip...
The strip conists of kereoke, tourist shops, cafes, restuarants, bars, nightclubs, tattoo shops etc and there will be lots and lots of PR guys (and girls) who will try and get you in. It's best to talk to them rather then ignore them as you'll ee them every night but dont feel pressured as they wont be offended if you say no. If you're going out drinking talk to them because they will give you fab deals on drinks (such as 2 cocktail 4 shots = 5 euro!)
Buzz bar is one of the best places to go along with rolling stones and madisons, and you don't paticuarly want to go out until after 11pm so is best to go out for a meal then have pre-drinks/pre-snooze back at the apartments :)
Maria's kareoke is so good and she'll put sparklers in your cocktails so pop in there for a visit :)
BTW: There's lots of cats at the apartments, not really an issue unless your uber uber uber uber allergic :) you can avoid them and if you want to do more then just pool lounging and drinking go down the strip at day and book a boat trip to Antipaxos and Paxos whcihi s BEAUTIFUL, or Aqauland (so fun) or get the bus into corfu town :)

Very friendly owners, close to the strip and on the beach, cheap and tasty food.
Five of us stayed at the hotel, three of us being girls and two boys. On arrival we had a very friendly greeting and our rooms were incredibly clean and a great size for the money we paid.
Bella, Yannis and George are the most friendly people you will ever meet and they cater to all your needs. There is a huuuge choice with food and everything is very, very tasty!! Also Bella will bring out little free suprise snacks for you, she gave us a slice of cake each to take on our boat trip!!
The strip is literally a five minute walk away, however it is not that close that you can hear all the crazily loud music. Drinks at the Daskalos bar are very good value so its worth having a few pre drinks there before you head out.
If you fancy having a night in during your stay then George will be behind the bar ready to entertain you with card tricks and his fabulous sarcasm.
The pool is lovely and sunbeds are always available (for free!), the apartments are directly on the beach so its nice and close for a quick paddle.
If you are thinking of going to Kavos then Daskalos is definately the place to stay!! Ive already started looking into going back next year!

Everything about the Daskalos apartments is lovely. The staff are so helpful and nice, especially George! He is the best with speaking English and spends most his time flirting with all the girls haha. The poolside and rooms are clean and the maid comes in daily, even thought it did just seem she moved everything around rather than cleaned?
Its located about 10 minute walk from the strip and pretty chilled and quiet during the day. Plus its mostly filled with girls as its a pretty hotel and our rep said not many boys stay there - so not much hassle.
The drinks and food are averagely priced compared to that on the strip.
Never wanted to leave this place, the best week of my life by far and i would recommend the Daskalos apartments to anyone!

Me and three other girls aged 18 just returned earlier this week from Kavos and it was an amazing first holiday for us girls! Daskalos Apartments were a great stay, the owners were lovely and made you feel very welcome along with their son who is usually at the bar or around the pool. The apartments were very spacious and very clean, the maid comes every day. The pool area was also clean and has plenty of free sunbeds to use.
The apartments complex were literally on the beach and still only a few minutes walk away from the main strip which was ideal as it wasn't too noisy but still could manage to get home after a night out!
The main strip is full of clubs and bars, but you have to banter with the PR's as they will do anything to get you in their bar, so tell them what drinks you want for the price.
Overall was a fab holiday and loved the accomodation and would also reccomend the boat trip to the Blue Lagoon which was so beautiful!!

Me and 3 other girls aged 21 visited these apartments in June 2011.
I wouldnt advise anyone who doesnt like noise to stay here,although it wasnt noisy when we were there, but people still complained.
The owners are lovely and will tend to your every need.
The food behind the bar is fine for lunch and all the spirits are Smirnoff, Bacardi etc, not Greek versions.
The rooms are clean and are cleaned everyday. Towels were changed once in the week we were there.
The pool area is fine and clean.
The apartments are on the beach but the beach is not very nice. To get to a nice beach where you can walk out to sea for miles, it is a 15 min walk, where there are also watersports and free sunbeds. If you do watersports (we did paragliding and the sofa) they are brilliant and the people who do it will pick you up from the apartments and drop you off after. They also do a trip to 'secret beach' which is a really nice beach and the sea is clear and gorgeous. that cost 20 euros each.
On the way to the watersports beach there is a restaurant called the Rose Tree taverna. The owner gave us free starters and free baileys after our meals, which were nice. It is a must.
In the other direction is the bars and clubs. The apartments are a 5 min walk from the strip of bars, restaurants and clubs where we ate most nights.
The food on the strip is rubbish. Most places will tell you they are the best, but none are great. Stick to stuff you know will be fresh, like salads and pizza. Avoid pasta and fish. Just as you enter the strip there is a restaurant which is more like a school canteen called Big Bite, but this has the best food on the strip from the restaurants we ate at. It is cheap and the portions are massive.
The clubs in kavos are great, future and venue being the ones where you are bound to end up.
The bars are also great, barter with the PRs though, if you ask for a better deal on drinks you will get one.
The PRs get annoying but dont ignore them else they remember you and will try to trip you up!! They are lovely, so make friends with them and you may get free drinks!
A fantastic holiday, would definitely go back.

great hol, good poole and that right by the strip, loved it until the last day where they said we had made 415euros worth of damage that wasnt even us!they amde us pay or they would have stopped our flights!

Myself and 5 friends have just returned from a week in Kavos, in which we stayed in the Daskalos Apartments.
I don't have a bad word to say about the place, it really was one of the best holidays I have ever been on!
Yannis, Bella and George who run it are the NICEST people you could ever wish to meet and made us feel so welcome! We really didn't want to leave. It was like having a ready made family waiting for us!!
Daskalos is situated on the beach in such a lovley location and one of the best things is it's set a bit back from the strip so even though it's only a 5 minute walk away you don't get the loud noise throughout the night.
Really really want to go back!! You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Loved every minute :)

We had such a great holiday thanx to staying at this place,the owners are really nice,rooms are basic but not a problem seeing as we wernt in them much...Your near enough on the beach its just outside the gates..such a good place to stay and would definatly go back... they serve great breakfast too!!...The main strip is really easy to get to aswell takin about 5 mins walking ..which is nice if u want to get some sleep after a good night out!

my wife and i stayed in the large block away from the bar and pool both of us enjoyed our holiday and will hopefully be returning we found it was near all the amenities we enjoyed and a brilliant location for the beach which is what i call proper sand and a gentle slope in the sea.we are both in our 50s we tried the large strip but after 100yrds decided to leave it for the kids and spent our evenings on the mini strip all in all exeded all we expected the only bad point was that the studio was cleaned every day towels changed once the bedding was not changed and after a week of very hot weather night and day a bit of fresh bedding would have been appreicated

Daskalos Apartments and Studios are very pleasant. We had a studio, a big airy room that had a separate bathroom and kitchen, which was well equipped and very clean, and we paid for air-conditioning (40 euros for the week) as it was very hot when we were there.
The family who own and run the place are very friendly and helpful. There is a pool and a bar where you can drink and eat,(the food is good but quite expensive), but music is played at top volume all day by the pool which drives you mad after a while. Luckily you can walk straight onto the beach from the bar, so you can escape to the more relaxing sounds of the sea!
Kavos itself is either a dream or a nightmare, depending on what you are looking for. It is a Brits abroad resort and if you want to spend your nights getting hammered this is the place for you. If you are looking for genuine greek food and culture it is almost impossible to find, but there are a couple of restaurants on the beach, and in particular the Falconera serves really good food at a reasonable price - not cheap but maybe this is because the euro exchange rate is so bad at the moment.
If Daskalos was located at another resort it would be brilliant and probably at the quieter ends of the season it is lovely, but not recommended for anyone hoping to find traditional Greece.
