My wife and I stayed at Hotel Belsana...
2 / 10
Sep 2006, R Deering

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Belsana in August 2006 for 3 days. Porto Colum is a lovely Spanish fishing village and the beach at Cala- Marsal is wonderful.
However probably due to the all inclusive hotels the resort is very run down with many shops, bars and restaurants closed down.
My wife and I have been on 6 all inclusive holidays and this has got to be the worst by a long way. The hotel itself needs a major refurbishment the bar and entertainment area is very 1970s (I think that was the last time it was decorated and furnished.)
We found the food very salty and very average and the entertainment was very minimal.
We stayed at the pool area for 3 days and we had no problem getting sun beds. The lady at the pool bar was lovely. Unfortunately the snack bar by the pool was so popular that the waiting time for food ranged from half an hour to over one and a half hours. The lack of entertainment during the day resulted in the children resorting to throwing each other into the pool all day causing the bar area to be very slippery.
Luckily we did not bring our 5 children with us especially as the hotel does not have a life guard.
If your idea of a good holiday is to let your children go and do anything they like and have no high food expectations, with virtually no entertainment then this is your holiday.
If you decide to go here then good luck to you (you will need it).

The hotel Belsana is very dirty there...
2 / 10
Aug 2006, Miss C Moldon

The hotel Belsana is very dirty there is dog dirt all over the floor, we spilt a drink on the first night and after seven days the drink was still there.
This hotel is not all inclusive between the hours of 10am-noon and 4pm -6.30 there is no food available, not even an ice-cream and after 9pm you can not get any food or snacks.
The pools are very deep and are not suitable for the elderly or people with small children as to get to one pool you have to go up 2 flights of stairs and the other one you have to cross a road. (There is no pool side snack bar available at this pool, so again you have the cross the road or go up the stairs to get a drink).
The evening entertainment is always the same 8.30-9.30 mini-disco, 9.30-10pm quiz and bingo 10pm-11pm show. Don’t expect to win on the quiz as they make the answers up, we even showed them a book to confirm that our answer was correct.
While you are sunbathing around the pool the dogs are walking around the sun beds and the people who are eating in the local restaurant are letting there kids in the hotel pool.
The hotel food is always the same Chicken, Pork Chips and salad there is nothing for the kids everyone was complaining that there children were only eating chips.
Porto Colum is very quiet in fact it’s too quiet, I'm very surprised that the shops do enough business to stay open. You do have a choice of 3 or 4 restaurants, if you want a meal.
I would suggest that before you book a holiday to the Belsana Aparthotel, read all the reviews and believe them because I didn't but I wish I had, It’s horrible to see young babies falling over in the dirt, grime and dog foul around the hotel.
We go abroad every year with the family and this is the worst hotel I have been too, it was that bad that we are thinking of not going to Mallorca again.

My husband and I stayed at Belsana in...
3 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs K Sullivan

My husband and I stayed at Belsana in early July 2006. My main complaint would not be directed at the hotel, but the people who I had the misfortune to have to share my holiday with - the behaviour makes me ashamed to be English.
I read reviews about this hotel and people complaining about chips being served every day - true they did serve them at every meal but as chips were the only thing that 90% of parents gave to their children for every single meal, if they hadn't served them there would have been a lot of hungry kids! No wonder there are so many overweight people in the UK.
The hotel staff were excellent, which made up for the fact that the hotel is run down, and poorly managed. The food was ample but bland and overcooked. The rooms were on the small side but adequate for 2 - if you are a family don't go there you will be very cramped.
The pool was too small for the size of hotel, and the majority of people didn't move from their sun loungers for the week.
Porto Colom is a beautiful little fishing village, quiet. Sadly many local restaurants, bars and shops have gone out of business because of the all inclusive hotels. The beach at Cala Marsal which is only 5 minutes walk is possibly one of the most beautiful I have seen on the med.
We went out for a few meals as we did not like the hotel food, this wasn't a problem as the holiday was so cheap - we found some lovely restaurants by the harbour - we loved the real traditional Spanish feel of the place and the lack of English tourists in the town.
I would go to Porto Colom again but definitely not to the Belsana - Hotetuer need to get their act together on this one because it really could be an excellent hotel with some investment - I have learned from this holiday that you get what you pay for!

We have just come back from our all...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss A Wilson

We have just come back from our all inclusive holiday and had an excellent time. The weather was perfect and so was the food. There was always a great variety of food to choose from. Whatever you liked you would always find somehting to have. Everyday there was lovely desserts to choose from.
The staff in the hotel were always very nice and polite. They spoke brilliant English and the staff on the reception desk were very helpful every time we enquired about anything.
The pool was lovely and there plenty of sun beds for everyone. The only down side was that there were not enough umbrella's or umbrella stands. We brought our own umbrella when we visited the beach but once back at the pool side was not able to find a stand for it.
The food at the snack bar was lovely, and the lady cooking it (sorry don't know you name) was a brilliant cook, cooking it perfect every time. All the staff at the pool were very happy.
The beach was beautiful with it's clear blue sea and lovely golden sand. We went on the boat trip to Port Colon and we had an excellent time, we would definitely recommend taking the boat trip.
I think the only bad thing to say about our holiday would be that we did have to queue at the bar on several occasions and there were always plenty of staff behind the bar to serve but were not doing this quick enough. The entertainment wasn't brilliant either. We did find the evenings to be slightly boring. Although there were acts that they had hired they only lasted about an hour then that was it.
All in all we had an excellent holiday and would definitely return again.

Been back from Porto Colom and the...
7 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss J Bright

Been back from Porto Colom and the Hotel Belsana for a week now. We had a really nice relaxing time, the hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the food lovely.
I wouldn’t recommend Porto Colom for someone looking for any nightlife, it’s a quiet fishing village with a few shops and bars within walking distance but its good if you’re looking for a holiday to chill out and take it easy. The hotel staff were lovely, many English working there, the food was brilliant, no complaints whatsoever, everywhere seemed clean although we heard many people complain about the cleaners for the rooms but we had no problems.
The only thing I would say is the queuing for the bar for all inclusive drinks. You’re only allowed to order 2 at a time which was fine for us as a couple but not for a family or group bigger than that and the staff were quite slow in serving so there was always a queue. The pool area was lovely but if like us you burn easily and need a parasol get there early as I counted only 9 to the whole pool area and we often didn’t get one.
The entertainment was poor in all fairness, 1/2hr kids disco first (which was great for the kids), then a small show of some sort or bingo! After that there’s not much at all for kids to do, there’s one pool table and a few video games - that’s it! However just up the road was a great bar called the Beez Neez, it played great music had a huge TV which showed all the footie, TV programmes such as Eastenders, Big Brother etc, and the food and staff made it great fun.
So there you go, not the greatest holiday in the world but by far not the worst either. If you asked me if I'd go back, as much I had a nice time while I was there the answer would have to be no.

Wow, What a lovely hotel.
18 of us traveled out for the half term holiday. We arrived early hours of the morning so went straight to bed so had no idea what to expect in the morning.
My husband and I woke, drew back the curtains on to the balcony and were met with the most magnificent view of the med immediately in front of us and the harbour at Porto Colom just to the left, it was stunning. Boats passing by in front of the balcony all day long. It was gorgeous.
The pool was also situated just below the room and also had the same view. Rooms were spotless. Food was lovely. Pool was always clean and tidy with plenty of loungers to go around.
5 minutes down the road was the most fabulous beach. Clear blue water and golden sand. It was beautiful. Porto Colom is a quite area with a few bars and shops. Car hire is cheap and there are a number of companies near the hotel.
Entertainment in the evening isn't the best and be prepared for a wait at the bar. This holiday was value for money and very relaxing. I would definitely return.

Stayed for two weeks all inclusive at...
10 / 10
May 2006, Mrs A Gregory

Stayed for two weeks all inclusive at the Belsana.
Booked with Medinland, and was immediately worried about the reviews. The operator had led me to beleive this was a top notch flawless hotel. Tried to exchange but was told it would incur a huge charge.
Well. When we arrived I was a bit put off by the outside of the building - all buildings in mallorca look really weathered. But when I got inside the reception I was blown away.
This was, without a doubt, one of the lushest hotels I have ever had the good luck to stay in. Everyone there agreed, I only met two disgruntled customers (Sandra and June if your reading - wake up. ) but this pair of ingrates complained about everything. People like this enjoy being miserable, and all their grumbles were completely unfounded.
The apartments: Clean, spacious, tasteful, large balconys, great views - Perfect.
The pool area - all non slip, large terrace, fantastic pool side bar serving the best food, I am vegetarian and I ate fine - and was even tempted by the home made fresh hamburgers served in front of me. Do not go if your trying to lose weight!
The staff - Ann the manager, so lovely. So lovely. She honestly does everything in her power to make your stay - Perfect. She really is lovely. And Marco the entertainer was also partuiculerly friendly.
Not much to do of an evening. If you do fancy it Cala dor is a 20 min taxi ride away - and there is a great kareoke bar and a flares there.
But best of all was the beach. By far the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in europe. Clear water for about 100 metres out, and sand as soft and gold as you like. Lifeguards present all the time, and not too crowded.
This Hotel and resort Is Mallorcas hidden Gem.
I will never again consider going anywhere else in Mallorca, and I have allready booked to return in July. See you there!

Just returned from the Belsana Hotel...
5 / 10

1 reader found this review helpful

Just returned from the Belsana Hotel in Porto Colom after spending 2 weeks with husband and 2 kids. We were All Inclusive in this half-board hotel.
We were meant to be in the hotel but were put in the aparthotel apartments, which were very basic and older than the hotel, which was renovated 5 years ago. Apartments were dirty the maid only swept the middle of the floor and was washed once in the 2 wks we were there.
The all inclusive started fine we were the only all inc. For the first 4 days had to get snacks from poolside bar from 12-4 and that was it. At the weekend about another 50 people arrived all inc. Then the problems started. Staff at the poolside bar could not cope with the amount of snacks so the hotel announced that all meals for all inc at lunch would be in the restaurant from 1-2pm. Went and complained about this and were allowed chips from 12-4pm.
Various people complained while we were their about the all inclusive and were told everyone else were happy (not true) the hotel staff themselves were very nice but were working on the instructions from the director who hadn’t a clue. Worst all inclusive hotel I have been at and I have been to about 6.
The entertainment at night was good about 4 professional acts in a week but only lasted about an hour. The hotel brought in a new rep for entertainment during the day and he was brilliant (Paul) kept everyone going.
You had the choice of 2 pools one at the apartments and one at the hotel. The local people used the apartments pool and the main pool was not very clean although I saw it getting cleaned nearly everyday.
Food at the hotel was good although the lunch was limited.
I am complaining to the company whom I booked through as not as expected.
Security at the hotel very poor, 2 apartments were broken into and a man walked into the restaurant at lunch and stole a woman’s bag, again hotel not very interested.

All inclusive well what can I say it...

Jul 2004, BROWNMARIA

1 reader found this review helpful

All inclusive well what can I say it was not there was no snacks at all until I demanded something and then all we got was chips between 2pm - 4pm.
we could have pints of beer on the first day at the pool bar but after that we were only allowed half pints at dinner we could not have soft drinks unless we got up and got them from the bar area which meant leaving the dining room we could not have drinks after 12 but the bar closed at 1am which meant we were made to feel like second class people.
There were 90 sun lounges of which many were broken in the middle and all the parasols 13 of them were broken and dangerous to use.
we had in the 14 days we were there five burglaries in rooms with no sign of break ins plus a handbag stolen from the dining room they have no CCTV cameras at all also locals using the pool area.
The food the first three days was excellent but after that well what can I say rubbish pork, pork, pork and beef once lovely chicken one day but that was it and lunch two things to choose from apart from the salad not enough cups glasses or cutlery at breakfast and always waiting for either eggs or beans the list goes on and on.
But to add to the good points the staff were excellent and the hotel itself could be a wonderful one if sorted. The view was lovely and the pool was good too.
The rooms were very small though we did not get what we paid for and all the complaints I made to the manager nothing was done at all except as I said earlier we got chips wow!
I will be complaining to the company I booked with and everyone in the hotel was complaining too so something needs to be sorted because after all the all inclusive deal should mean all inclusive yes? Especially when everyone in the hotel was sold it with everything included
